I will guide you on these multi-day mountain biking tours in Blue Derby, from Launceston, Tasmania, a relatively new mountain biking location that has become one of the most popular in the state, with a wide array of trails of different difficulty leading us through lovely growth forest and past tranquil, picturesque waterways and streams.
The Blue Derby mountain bike trails were opened in 2015, and are located in the hinterland above the small town of Derby, 100km from the city of Launceston on the island state of Tasmania, Australia. The trails have revitalized the town and made it a must-ride destination for mountain bikers, even hosting an Enduro World Series event in 2017.
Our journey begins when we meet in Launceston, from where we then head to the town of Derby.
As the multi-day trips are almost fully designed by you, we have a wide variety of choice for where we can mountain bike.
Some of the best trails and areas include Hollybank Mountain Bike Park, Dam Busters and Krushkas, Blue Tier, the Atlas Trail and 23 Stitches.
Each trail and route has its own distinct characteristics, with some offering a gentler, more relaxing experience while others are designed to be a challenge, testing and improving your technique and physical limits.
One thing that unites all these trails is the peaceful, idyllic scenery at every turn, with humongous trees towering over the abundant granite rock and superb streams, lush green vegetation covering almost everything else.
After mountain biking to our hearts content we then finish our adventure with our heads full of fantastic memories and our hearts full of love for such an amazing place.

Rock Climbing Instructor
Mountain Bike Tasmania was founded in 2006 with just one tour on offer: the ever popular Ben Lomond descent. From there, the agency offering expanded to also include rock climbing.
Its owner, Ian Ferrier, is qualified with the Tas Climbing Instructors Association and has been climbing in Tasmania and elsewhere since 1987, including New Zealand, Canada and Alaska. He has competed in many MTB races around Tasmania as well as several multi-leg adventure races as a solo competitor.
All the guides in the Mountain Bike and Rock Climbing Tasmania team have a solid background in climbing, mountain biking, overland track bushwalking and other school outdoor education programs.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
