Punta Giordani is the lowest peak of the 4000-meter summits of Monte Rosa. It is a perfect peak for those inexperienced hikers that want to have a mountain adventure at high altitude.
From the Punta Giordani’s summit there is a spectacular view on the south face of Monte Rosa. It is a 1-day ascent that I organize every Tuesday from late June to mid September. The round tour will take us about 5 to 6 hours. Here below you can have more details of the program:
We will meet in Staffal at 7 am. If you need to rent some equipment you can do it in the shop nearby our office. After the equipment check, we will take the cable car to Punta Indren.
From there, we’ll start to walk along the Indren Glacier towards the Punta Giordani. During the way up few stops are “mandatory”. We will take some pictures, rest, drink and eat some snacks there.
In the middle of the ascent, a small rock is the right place for a longer stop before the last section. The last 5 meters are on rock. Be quiet and, following my tips, in few steps you will be standing close to the Madonnina. You will be on top of your first 4.000 meters peak! The way down is along the same route.
As for the technical level it is suitable for those regular hikers who want to make a first approach to a summit. On this kind of terrain, basic rules of mountaineering are necessary. Such us walking in a rope team along a glacier. The total altitude change during the whole day will be 770 meters.
It will be a pleasure for me to be your guide. So please contact me to plan this amazing trip to Punta Giordani!
