The basis of all vertical things is rock climbing and Kalymnos is an incredible place for it. Francis, the first American IFMGA certified guide, will be happy to take you there
I will take you on different routes to all the paths that Kalymnos has to offer. You can choose the levels and difficulty. At first, you may want to start with a few easy spots to warm up. But later, with some accumulated experience you will see why Kalymnos is perfect to end the climbing season. You will realize that you have the confidence to push your limits and reach new heights, and I will be there to help you. Through proven teaching methods, your rock climbing skills are guaranteed to improve.
Kalymnos is too hot to climb during the summer so I can’t take you there from June to September. Autumn is definitely my favorite time to visit. The weather and the temperature are stable and comfortable so you can climb all day long. And the climbing festival takes places in October so you will meet lots of climbers to share and learn from this new experience.
Kalymnos has great quality limestone on most cliffs (no loose rocks). And nothing is monotonous about climbing here: you’ll be surprised by the great variety of rocks. Slabs and stalactites or tufas on overhanging rocks render it perfect to climb.
I prefer small groups because it means extra security and more personal attention for you. Please note that this is a private program. Unfortunately for the time being I don’t have any group departures planned.
So if you want to do something that is really worthwhile for your holidays get in touch with me and let me be your guide in this lovely adventure. We will discuss your wishes and plan a route adapted to your level.
There are several ways to get to Kalymnos: 1. Fly charter to Kos; then, take a boat from Kos to Kalymnos. 2. Fly to Athens; then, take a second flight to Kos and, from there, a boat to Kalymnos. 3. Fly to Athens; then, take a second flight directly to Kalymnos. 4. Fly to Athens; then, go to Piraeus Port and take the ferry to Kalymnos. 5. Fly charter to Rhodes; then, take the ferry or plane from Rhodes to Kalymnos.

IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide
I am a professional mountain & ski guide. I have been guiding now since 1994. I have always been into the mountains – skiing at age 4 and secretly sneaking away for overnight bivouacs in the mountains behind my parents house. At age 13, I decided to pursue my airy scrambles for something that looked a bit more fun. I went to work as an assistant bringing out other young teenagers on exciting hiking and more importantly to me, climbing outings. One thing led to another and before I knew it my world revolved around the mountains.
At the age of 18 I moved to France to pursue my passions, later becoming actively involved with the French Alpine Club in Dijon and organizing outings and putting up climbing routes here and there in Burgundy.
In 1992, I entered the infamous ENSA or French guides school in Chamonix and became the first American to receive international certification (UIAGM/IFMGA) through this prestigious school.
Since then I have been making my living as a full time professional guide, climbing and skiing in many of the worlds great mountain ranges. I speak fluent French, some Italian and I am now learning German.
Previously I have worked as a technical consultant for Petzl, and Grivel.
