Description

Peruvian Cordillera Blanca offers us a lot of varied activities to enjoy its amazing mountains, its breathtaking landscapes and its crystalline lakes. And as if it isn’t enough, we have the opportunity of combining different mountains trails making them adaptable for any technical level. That’s why today I am proposing this 8-day expedition along The Santa Cruz Trek and then, an easy and non-technical climbing up to 5.752 meters high at Pisco summit.
During the trekking by Santa Cruz we have the challenge of hiking a high pass called Punta Union at 4750m from where you won’t believe what you are seeing.
Once we start our second stage of the trip, the ascent to Pasco peak, we may use some ice climbing gear such as crampons, rope, harness and ice axe to help to the climb it. But I can assure you this experience is not comparable with anything in life.

Keep reading the following itinerary to know more about this amazing expedition along one of the perfect mountainous places of the Peru Range.

DAY 3: PUNTA UNION PASS
Early in the morning he head to Punta Union Pass at 4.700 meters of height. Once we cross this high trail, we will hike down to Cachinapampa, where we will sleep. This trek will take us about 7 hours in total.

DAY 5: PISCO BASE CAMP
We are in the middle of the trip, about to start its second stage. Our new starting point will be Cebollapampa from where we go up to the base camp of Nevado Pisco, at 4.600 meters.

DAY 6: STARTING THE ASCENT
We leave the base camp early in the morning, towards the summit. On the way we will find moraine surface that we will be overcome easily. Then, we set up our camp at 4.800 meters in order to get ready to the following summit day.

DAY 7: PISCO SUMMIT DAY
We continue climbing up among ice surfaces and glaciers. After passing some mountain cracks we finally are in the summit of Nevado Pisco at 5.752 meters of height. We did it! Once we celebrate with such a viewpoint, we return to the base camp to rest.
