The Selvaggio Blu trek is an epic adventure into the untouched nature of the beautiful island of Sardinia, surrounded by the blue waters of the Mediterranenan Sea. Francis, an IFMGA-certified guide, takes you on this amazing 7-day hiking trip.
The Selvaggio Blu is one of the most amazing trekking tours in Italy. For 7 days, I will take you on this true adventure into simply wild nature, in the beautiful island of Sardinia.
The Selvaggio Blu is often referred to as one of the hardest treks in all of Italy. This is largely due to the fact that it actually takes you back to nature, in one of the most untouched places in Europe. The Selvaggio Blu hike-“wild blue” in English- takes us along spectacular limestone cliffs, oak filled forests and scarce vegetation, with the stunning crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranenan Sea on our side.
You will enjoy a unique experience, where the days are long and hot, the nights are cool and the ground is hard. But you will be rewarded with an authentic natural experience and with some of the finest memories of your life.
Please note that this trek cannot be done during the summer months (June-September) as it gets too hot.
For a week, we will disconnect from modern world. Our adventure takes us to a place with no signs of civilisation, no houses and no roads, the best way to re-discover the authentic natural life. We will explore untracked passages, enjoy some swimming in beautiful beaches, climb and abseil. We will sleep in a cove by the tranquil sea or maybe in a shepherd hut on a hillside. You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.
You need a good fitness base to join this trek. Previous hill walking experience is greatly appreciated but not absolutely necessary. We will walk for an average of 6 hours each day, in an expected very warm and dry climate.
If you want to join me on this epic journey above the Sardinian seaside, don’t hesitate to send me a request. Book your trip and get ready for 7 days of true adventure.

IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide
I am a professional mountain & ski guide. I have been guiding now since 1994. I have always been into the mountains – skiing at age 4 and secretly sneaking away for overnight bivouacs in the mountains behind my parents house. At age 13, I decided to pursue my airy scrambles for something that looked a bit more fun. I went to work as an assistant bringing out other young teenagers on exciting hiking and more importantly to me, climbing outings. One thing led to another and before I knew it my world revolved around the mountains.
At the age of 18 I moved to France to pursue my passions, later becoming actively involved with the French Alpine Club in Dijon and organizing outings and putting up climbing routes here and there in Burgundy.
In 1992, I entered the infamous ENSA or French guides school in Chamonix and became the first American to receive international certification (UIAGM/IFMGA) through this prestigious school.
Since then I have been making my living as a full time professional guide, climbing and skiing in many of the worlds great mountain ranges. I speak fluent French, some Italian and I am now learning German.
Previously I have worked as a technical consultant for Petzl, and Grivel.
