I’m a skilled and experienced mountain guide and I know this region inside out so it will be my pleasure to show you all its secrets.

Our first two days will be spent doing a ski touring course based at Zelenica Hut. On the first day you will ascend to Dom na Zelenici at 1535m, whilst the second day you will ascend to one of the surrounding peaks at about 2000m.

In this basic course you will learn about the equipment for ski touring,
technique and safe choice of ascent and descent, mountain dangers in winter, snow stability tests, mountain rescue, how to use crampons and ice axe and much more.

On the third day we will ascend to Hruscanski Vrh at 1776m before descending down into Barental of Austria at 1350m. On this route we will get some of our best views including of Mount Triglav (2864m).

On the fourth day we will be ascending to Kotovo Seldo at 2134m and we’ll be heading there from the famous Nordic centre of Slovenia at 940m.

The fifth day is full of options, depending on the snow conditions we can adapt what we want to do.

We can continue skiing in Slovenia, head to the Vogel or Kanin ski resorts or we can go over to the Austrian slopes of the Cariola region.

These mountains of the Julian Alps and Karawanks are truly fantastic landscpaes that need to be seen to be believed. Excellent ski conditions are the norm and your breath will be taken away on numerous occasions by the panoramic views.

About the Guide

I am an aspirant iFMGA mountain guide born in 1980 in Mojstrana, a Slovenian village close to Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in the country at 2864 m.

From an early age, my parents took me to the mountains during summer and winter. At that time, my father was part of a mountain rescue team in my hometown and was also going on expeditions to the Himalaya and the Andes, so he became a big inspiration for me. We went climbing, hiking, sport climbing and ski touring together. His enthusiasm truly influenced me.

I went to Alpine school, then Mountain rescue team, I did the Alpinist exam and I became an Alpinist instructor. After that, I also studied to be a professor of Sport. Several years later, I decided to begin my mountain guide education and to become an IFMGA/UIAGM certified mountain guide.

Loved Slovenia and would highly recommend for those who enjoy the outdoors and walking. The via ferrata route was great for a morning hike. Stunning views and not too hard which was good given the heat that day. Our guide Borut (replaced by Gregor at the last minute as I had misjudged our dates so very much appreciated it) was lovely and made our trip even better.
