The Stubai Alps have all the right ingredients to make this ski tour just amazing.
The Stubai Alps is a mountain range which extends between the Central Easters Alps of Europe. Its location is unbeatable as it is an hour distance from Innsbruck which makes it a destination with an easy access.
Principally great snow, excellent huts, hearty cuisine and spectacular terrain all combine makes this tour a must do. You will not have to worry about crowded tracks as this is a place of pure authenticity. The terrain is ideal for ski amateurs who want to enjoy challenging tours in a rough stage.
Furthermore I assure you this is the kind of adventure you never forget. You will be enchanted with this scenery but also with outstanding food and drinks. In addition we will spend a night at the Franz Senn Hutte, one of the finest places to overnight in the mountains.
Finally I recommend this trip for experienced on high alpine skiing who are capable of linking parallel turns anywhere on the mountain. Moreover I suggest excellent fitness as we will be facing slopes of 40 degrees. On the other hand, rates and dates will be customized depending on the itinerary.
To sum up the highlight of this trip are the following:
- Authentic ski touring in one of the few unspoiled areas of the Alps;
- Overall outstanding food, drink and scenery;
- Vast glaciated terrain with few groups;
- The Franz Senn Hutte hut;
- Head towards the Danuscharte and over the Wütenkarsattel;
- Reach the Amberger hut;
- Reach the Wilder Turm via the Verbogen Berg Ferner glacier;
- Ascent up the Blechner valley to reach the summit of the Horntalspitz 2863 meters.

Arrive in Neustift
Welcome meeting, equipment check and briefing on the itinerary for the week. Stay overnight in hotel in Neustift.
Arrive at Dresdener Hut
After breakfast, we take the bus up the valley to the lift and have a quick pit stop to drop off our gear at the Dresdener Hut, which is located right off the pistes. The rest of the day is spent checking gear and enjoying the great off piste skiing to be found here. Mid afternoon, we will do a quick “tour shake down”. We will also practice beacon search and discuss route selection before our final ski back down the deserted slopes to the hut for a nice meal and the overnight stay.
Danuscharte and over the Wütenkarsattel
Following an alpine breakfast, we head towards the Danuscharte and over the Wütenkarsattel. We’ll have a great photo of here, prior to the challenging ski down the valley to finally reach the Amberger hut. This is classic backcountry skiing at its finest. I think you’ll agree that the location is spot on. Stay overnight in the Amberger hut.
Arrive to Franz Senn hut
A true alpine start this morning sees us off over the long Wildgratscharte saddle and series of smaller lumps before we start our long, long ski down towards the Franz Senn hut. This has to be one of the best true alpine huts in all of the Alps. The hospitiality, charm, food, views and of course the beer on tap make life seem pretty good right now. Night at the Franz Senn hut.
Second night at Franz Senn
Today we get to make a semi leisurely start before heading towards one of the dozens of day trips possible from this location. We’ll have lighter packs as we can leave some gear behind.
Reach the Wilder Turm
Today the plan is do another stunning tour (that’s easy) to reach the Wilder Turm via the Verbogen Berg Ferner glacier. The Wider Turm has two separate summits the highest of which reaches to 3294m. This is a long day but one that rewards everyone for their effort. Staying at the Fran Senn hut gives us the advantage of being light to enjoy both the ascent as well as the fabulous descent back down the glacier. Final night at the Franz Senn hut
Ascent up the Blechner valley
Our final day reserves a special surprise –the fabulous ascent up the Blechner valley to reach the summit of the Horntalspitz 2863m. A last well deserved alpine lunch prior to the final run back down the valley to Oberiss and our taxi ride back to Neustift and a celebration for a week you enjoy!
