Description

I invite you in this occasion to a fantastic ski touring adventure to several volcanoes in Chile. During two weeks, we will ascend the famous Chilean cones and enjoy long and scenic descents.

The region of Araucania is one of the best areas for ski adventurers in South America. Indeed, here it's easy to find wild terrain with perfect snow. Besides, the background is no less than wonderful forests and beautiful lakes.

The volcanoes that we will explore range between 2000 and 3000 meters of altitude. Some of them are active! To boost your imagination, here are some names: Lonquimay, Lanin, Villarica, Osorno. But we will ski down many more, check the details in the itinerary below.

This is the perfect trip for ski tourers looking for a challenge and to discover a remote region. The slopes are extremely varied. Sometimes steep, they make for incredible descents!

I organized this trip to leave from Milan.

Did you find this ski touring plan tempting? Then please get in touch with me and let's explore the Chilean Andes together! And if you are looking for a ski touring trip in the European winter, check out this one in the beautiful Maira Valley.

Exemplary is the word. Andrea's colleague Simone was my guide for this ascent. Andrea coordinated my solo expedition of Monte Argentera with only a few days notice. Conversation with Simone was easy and fascinating from the get-go. He tailored the expedition to suit me best: we moved at a faster pace and took time to meet the wild animals. He introduced me to harness-and-rope based mountain-climbing and created challenges within my limits - always acknowledged the small accomplishments which was very reassuring!. After the main ascent, Simone used his climbing expertise to reach a child who had fallen from a cliff and assisted in an air-ambulance secours. He took it all in his stride and his humility and heroism were exemplary. As my mountaineering debut, I've come away from the experience with confidence, trust and fascination - I would be thrilled to do another.
