Amazing 8-day ski touring in the Zagros massif, one of the wildest destinations in Iran, together with an IFMGA Mountain Guide.
A unique destination unknown by most skiers in the world
Ski from town to town in the heart of the mountains
Personalized trips
I enjoy skiing in Iran because there is snow and summits whose slopes are specially suited for skiing. But mostly, because I’m always searching for the wildest places in the world.
After Mongolia, South Georgia and the Caucasus, the Zagros massif in Iran caught my skier attention. I believe that ski touring is a wonderful way to discover a region, not only a mountain massif but also the people.
In 2009, I went on a reconnaissance trip to Iran based on Chelguerd. This trip allowed me to identify the best spots and to organize a raid between each village. I realized it was an unique and incredible experience.
That is why I’m inviting you to this 11-day ski touring trip.
In Iran there are two main mountain ranges: the Elbourz, in the north of the country near Tehran, and the Zagros, in the south west of Isfahan.
Every winter it snows heavily. Because of that, most of the peaks remain snowy during the year, turning this place into a ski touring paradise!
The Zagros massif is one of the wildest ones, so there are not important cities nearby. It consists on two parallel chains separated by deep canyons and gorges. Its higher peaks are over the 4000 meters, and the highest one is Ghash-e-Mastan at 4548 m.
The nomadic lifestyle is still present in these mountains. You can find goats and sheeps, as well as families (including Bakthyaris) that accompany them. In winter they all descend to the lower valleys.
I invite you to contact me if you are interested in this beautiful adventure. It will be a pleasure for me to discuss our trip and be your guide in the incredible Zagros massif.

I have been a mountain guide since I was 25 years old. My passion for discovering the mountains of the world has led me to the four corners of the earth. Currently, I am also an instructor at the National School of Skiing and Mountaineering (ENSA).
Each year, I organize different trips. I'm in charge of each trip's organization and I'm sometimes also the guide who leads the group. It could either be me or one of my 4 guide friends, who I have been working with for years.
I have been organizing trips around the world for the past 26 years: Alaska, Antractica, Nepal, Mongolia...Over the years, I have organized trips in more than 30 countries.
In recent years I have had the opportunity to discover:
- Ski traverse in Greenland
- Ski touring in Iran, Lebanon, Mongolia, Argentina, Canada
- Climbing in the Yukon at the Lotus Flower, Jordan, Oman
- The high summits of Sichuan, Kula Kangri in Tibet, Langtang Ri in Nepal
I am currently based in Chamonix and the other 3 guides who work with me live nearby as well. If you are interested in traveling far away or discovering the Mont Blanc massif and other places in the Alps, for climbing, ski touring or ice climbing, please contact me. It will be a pleasure for me to organise a trip that meets your expectations.
