If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at ice climbing, then this is the trip for you. For this day trip, we have combined two of our most popular programs into one. First, enjoy a beautiful walk across the Sólheimajökull glacier. Then we’ll set up our gear and you can try ice climbing for yourself!

The South Shore of Iceland is an outdoor lover’s paradise, full of majestic glaciers, waterfalls, and beaches. On this trip, I take you to some of the best spots along the South Shore, including the famous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Plus, we get to really interact with the environment through a glacier walk and introduction to ice climbing. So this trip is perfect for those who want to get off the beaten tourist track.

The day’s itinerary goes more or less like this: I (or another member of my guiding agency) will pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik around 8:30 am. We will then travel to the Sólheimajökull glacier to begin our glacier walk. During the walk, we’ll explore water cauldrons and deep crevasses, and I’ll teach you more about glacier landscapes. Once we find a good spot, I’ll set up the ropes and give a short ice climbing lesson. Then everyone will have a turn at an easy and fun climbing experience.

On the way back to Reykjavik, we will stop to see the incredible Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Skógafoss is massive at 25 m wide and a 60 m drop. Seljalandsfoss is particular because it falls from a jutted out cliff, so you can actually walk all the way around it. At the end of a great day, I’ll take you back to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

This tour leaves every day at 9 am, all year long. It lasts 10-12 hours, including 3-4 hours of activity.
