In this 8-day program I invite you to join me to do the classic Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) trekking trip. This is one of the most beautiful and iconical trekking circuits in the world, and we will go across valleys and saddles in the Italian, French and Swiss Alps.
A more challenging alternative is to cover the same circuit in 4 days, and then go for a +4000m ascent, like Gran Paradiso, Montes Rosa, or even Mont Blanc in itself!
8 days TMB itinerary:
Day 1: Start from Chamonix. Local taxi to Notre Dame de La Gorge (1210 mt). Hiking up to Croix du Bohnomme refuge (2480 mt – 4/5 hours). Lunch in refuge then down to Les Chapieaux (1554 mt – 1/2 hours). Public taxi (€ 3,5 each) to Les Mottets (1870 mt). For very fit people from the refuge hiking to col du Fours (2665 mt) and down directly to Les Mottets (3-4 hours more). In Les Mottets there are very nice new rooms 2-4 people. Dormitory is bad in the old part.
Day 2: Les Mottets – col de la Seigne (2516 mt) – Elisabetta refuge (lunch) – Combal lake (4 hours). Down to La Visaille (45 min). Public bus to Courmayeur. For very fit people up to Col Checrouit (1956 mt) – Maison Vieille- down to Courmayeur with chairlift and cable car (3-4 hours) .
Day 3: Ski way cable car up to Helbronner (3450 my). Hiking on the glacier with rope, harnesses and crampons (3-4 hours max). Lunch in Pavillon restaurant (middle station). Down to Courmayeur
Day 4: Courmayeur (1225 mt) – Bertone refuge – Bonatti refuge (2025 mt – 4/5 hours). Packet lunch or lunch in Bonatti refuge. Many nice variants here are possible according to clients shape and number of participants (for example Val Sapin skipping Bertone refuge and going up to Col Sapin 2400 mt, few people here. 7-8 hours or going up to Testa della Tronche at 2584 mt).
Day 5: Bonatti refuge – Elena Refuge – Gran Ferret pass (2537 mt – La Peule (lunch) – Ferret (1705 mt – 6 hours). Bus or taxi to Champex du Lac
Day 6: Champex du Lac (1466 mt)- Fenetre d’Arpette (2665 mt) – Trient (7 hours). Packet lunch. Classical Bovine route is 5 hours (option in case of bad weather). http://www.la-grande-ourse.ch/ this one is quite good, maybe the best in Trient.
Day 7: Trient (1279 mt) – Col du Balme (2191 mt) – Alpage du Balme (nice and good lunch!) – Aiguille de La Posette (2201 mt) – Tre Les Champ (5-6 hours). Overnight in Argentiere.
Day 8: Tre Les Champ (1417 mt) – Lac Blanc (2352 mt – lunch) – La Flegere (1875 mt – 4 hours). Cable car down to Chamonix.
