Description

Carve tracks and cruise the Alps with the aid of a horse as you pull the reins and guide your companion while sliding your skis on freshly fallen snow.

This activity is called ski joëring, which is a particular type of skiing. The Norwegian word translates as ski driving, which you can think of as water skiing on snow, expect you’ll be helped by a fully-trained horse fully at home in the frosty mountains.

It’s a truly unique way of discovering the snowy fields and stunning scenery between Les Houches and Chamonix. You get breathtaking discovery, pristine landscapes and contact with native animals.

You’ll learn how to direct the horse via two easy-to-use handles. Then we’ll follow a scenic forested trail, along stunning mountain paths and pass by the beautiful Gaillands lake.

The Comtois horses are nice and friendly, and naturally adapted to the coldness of winter. They are also very attentive to humans, ensuring a safe and enjoyable trip.

In order to join me on this adventure, you’ll need to know how to parallel ski. And that’s it. You don’t need previous experience with horses. So join me and take the reins on your alpine adventure!

We got a guide for backcountry skiing in Chamonix. The guide was excellent in fulfilling our wishes even though the viability was poor and snow layer thin. Our goals was to in a quiet nature area with not too many people. We ended up with 1000 meter gain and a ski through the forest over a 6 hour period. I was one of my best ski experiences.

We had an amazing experience with Leo. Not only did he take us to a great bouldering location, but he really helped with technique to use for our future climbs. He was able to accommodate harder climbs for my husband while making sure I was still able to climb as a beginner. It was also extra special climbing with a local. Would recommend!
