Description

In the Spanish Pyrenees, Val d’Aran is a famous region due to its quantity of snow. I invite you to explore this amazing freeride skiing playing field near the Baqueira ski resort.

Possibilities are endless! The itineraries take us to small villages nested in the valley bottom. The valleys are wild and gorgeous, surrounded by national parks. In the beautiful villages the guests get a warm greeting and delicious food. Indeed, you will have a great time in restaurants and bars, where long talks go along with pinchos, tapas and Spanish wine or beer.

This is a trip to remember, a unique and warm destination!

In my opinion, this is one of the best backcountry skiing weeks that I organise because:

  • We have there numerous great ski touring itineraries
  • The sceneries are breathtaking
  • We stay in comfortable hotels with warm greeting and awesome Spanish gastronomy
  • The access is easy: TGV or flights to Toulouse and then transfer with me

I propose a 7-day backcountry ski tour in Val d’Aran. We will meet in Toulouse and transfer to our hotel in the Val d’Aran. Then we will enjoy several days of fantastic off-piste ski. We will stay in the charming villages of Unha and Salardu. For more details please have a look at the itinerary below.

This ski trip is for competent skiers in all snow conditions. You must be able to ski all day at a solid pace. We might have short climbs on skins but not exceeding 45 min / 1 hr per day and this requires no prior knowledge of ski touring techniques. Don’t worry, if you are tired of course you can opt for a shorter day, ski on groomed runs or take a rest day.

Please contact me if this ski week in the Spanish Pyrenees sounds tempting. Of course it will be my pleasure to take you there and spend an amazing week in Val d’Aran. And on the French side of the Pyrenees, we can go freeriding to the Pic du Midi de Bigorre!
