Vinho Verde is a traditional Portuguese wine harvested in the North of the country, and the region is also well known for its fantastic food and abundance of ancient, historical towns and monuments.

We begin by meeting at Porto Airport, where we then transfer to our first base of Ponte de Lima.

Ponte de Lima is the oldest town in Portugal, nestled on the banks of the River Lima, and for the first 3 days we will explore the magical and absolutely gorgeous town itself, as well as the nearby forests, vineyards, wetlands and fields, whilst also sampling the local produce.

We then head off to the second base of Moncao, right on the border with Spain, and a vital historical town due to its importance in battles between the Portuguese and Castile kingdoms.

The River Minho is the focal point around here, and we will wind our away around its lovely banks, lush green valleys surrounding us, and we are able to indulge in yet more of the outstanding local wine and food.

The penultimate day is spent wandering over the Eiffel Bridge in to Galicia, Spain, with a stop at the ancient cathedral of Tui.

We finish on the 8th day by heading back to Porto Airport, having sampled the delights of Northern Portugal and witnessed the incredible diversity of the scenery, flora and fauna.
