FAQs: Australia

What should I know about Australia?

Australia is the sixth largest country in the world, stretching over 7.5 million square kilometers. It is also the world’s flattest, driests and least densely populated continent, meaning there are plenty of incredible opportunities for exploration.

Due to its location south of the equator, most outdoor activities in Australia can be done year-round. Skiing is the exception, which requires snow to fall on its high\est mountain ranges in order to be done.

The center of the country gets quite hot in the summer, so popular activities such as base walks around Uluru, are best doen in other seasons.

Due to its immense size, it would be nearly impossible to see all of Australia in just open trip. However, exploring some of Australia’s cities should also be on your itinerary. Sydney is especially beautiful with its great ocean views, fabulous beaches amazing seafood and iconic architecture.

Why should I choose Australia for my adventure?

Stunning scenery

Home to mountains, deserts, rainforest and islands, Australia is chock-full of stunning scenery. Take in breathtaking views out over snowy slopes, or forested ones, from the Great Dividing Range. Get great ocean views from seaside cliffs in Tasmania or trek through thick rainforest on the northern peninsula. There’s plenty to see wherever you go.

Incredible diversity

Australia is considered to be one of the few megadiverse countries in the world. It is home to 1,350 terrestrial vertebrate animals that are found nowhere else on earth and 17,580 endemic plant species. For a truly unique experience, get out of doors and come see some of this diversity.

The Great Barrier Reef

Located off the northeastern coast of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef on the planet. Any trip to Australia should include a visit to this colourful array of plant and animal life. Take some time to scuba dive and see just some the natural diversity that swims there.

What can I expect from the weather in Australia?

Australia is quite a large country and therefore the weather varies considerably. Generally, the country receives very little rainfall – less than 600 mm per year – except in the northernmost part of the country. Average daily temperatures range from 18 ºC to 30 ºC, depending on your location and the season.

How can I get to Australia?
