Matterhorn 2 Day Guided Climb From Switzerland
Wasn\'t able to go to Matterhorn due to the weather but able to reschedule it to next year. Otherwise the trip would have been perfect. But Claudio the guide was really good and nice and offered a lot of advice and help for climbing Mont Blanc. Thanks a lot for everything!

Matterhorn guided climb via Hornli ridge
This trip was absolutely fantastic! Guy was a very knowledgeable guide, with extensive experience and know-how to get up the mountain. Guy worked with me to understand the conditions, reschedule a summit bid for later in the week, and then successfully summit the Matterhorn. I would easily consider him a short-roping jedi - which was essential for a safe trip up the Matterhorn. Speed is everything in the alpine, and Guy understands that and moves quickly, perhaps too quickly in some instances (not much time desired at summit or for pictures, etc. even though we were the third group to summit and where hours ahead of other parties). That being said, it did not detract from the overall summit and I was grateful to be off the summit before the fixed ropes were full of other parties. A more relaxed tone at times would have been appreciated but I understood the underlying desire to move quickly. The only thing lacking was a more formal expectation procedure but perhaps this is only my expectations. A formalized gear list, an understanding of the hut prices, and gondola rides, etc. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be using Guy again for other alpine adventures that require guiding.

4-day Dufourspitze Ascent from Gressoney
Great guide, but unfortunately our trip was cut short because of the weather so we only climbed 2 days instead of 4. But that’s life. The one thing that I didn’t like so much was the portal that you have to go through in order to book the trip. It’s not very personal. I’d rather deal with one person from the start whose name you know and whom you have direct contact with. But overall I was happy with my trip and Claudio and Sylvia did a great job.

Piz Bernina, 2-day Summit with overnight at the Marco e Rosa Hut, from Diavolezza
Renzo is a considerate, skilful guide and a good companion. Highly recommended. Under the conditions we climbed in (i.e. warm and cloudy) the route is less highly rated. The track through the \"Eck\" was much more demanding than Goedecke suggests in his book \"4000er\" and I would only attempt it again earlier in the year. Renzo took loads of photos so that was good. Grazie Mille!

How was my trip? AWESOME. The service at Explore-Share is superb. And the guide I had, Elis, was just great. Every moment on my climb I felt super safe with him. Had so much fun climbing the Matterhorn. Thank you!

Guy was an incredible guide up the Matterhorn. Everything was clear and concise about how to reach the summit efficiently and safely. He was very knowledgeable with extensive experience in mountaineering as well as being able to speak every language on the mountain with other climbers from various countries. For anyone’s next extreme adventure I highly recommend him.

Heliskiing Day Trip in Zermatt
We were group of 3 with Herbert to the Monte Rosa drop off location. Our group has done lots of heli-skiing, cat skiing, and hiked routes. What we look for in guides is 1) safety 2) matching route to technical ability 3) advice in complex sections 4) having a personality and making the day fun. On safety: Herbert did a good safety briefing and told us where to position ourselves relative to his tracks, that was the extent of his safety. One of our group members fell part-way into a crevasse and was dangling on the ice wall, and he leisurely pulled out his rope to throw it down even after being told there was a very far drop. He routinely skiied out-of-sight of the entire group even in more dangerous sections. If someone had fallen through again, there was no rescuing them as he was the only one with the safety gear. On matching the route the technical ability of the group he did fine, the only part that was an issue was the very long flat ski out (he warned us about this, so we knew it ahead of time, I wouldn\'t do this route again because of this). On advice/tips for complex routes, he had nothing to offer, and was annoyed when you asked him questions, the only thing he said was \"lean forward on your skiis\", and didn\'t try to help anyone who had challenges. On the last part, personality, this was the worst. He was extremely annoyed that he had to help the person out of the crevasse, and even more annoyed that a snowboarder in our group was slower in the flat section. He complained to other ski guides that passed by that he was late for his lunch. When we stopped to break and took pictures he asked us to stop wasting time with taking our phones out. When we asked him if we should bring water (for a 5 hour ski) he said it\'s no necessary, which was crazy. Overall, it really put a damper on the entire experience, we spent a lot of money and came from Canada to experience this, and he nearly ruined it. He\'s a really good technical skiier, but has no patience nor does he put an ounce of effort in to making it fun or making people feel safe.

Renato is a fantastic, knowledgable, entertaining guide. He navigated through the worst white out I have ever experienced with bat-like senses, managed the differing levels of fitness in our group with humour and a deft touch, and was a great companion at dinner. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for any tour or guided skiing experience.

I highly recommend Explore-Share company and my guide Guy Robert May. I had a great time scrambling the Hornli Ridge with Guy-Robert which was very professional and friendly. The weather was not prominent for already settle climbing day, still Guy-Robert managed to squeeze me in his busy calendar and guides me to the top on the other day. (!) He easily shared his knowledge and experiences, gave me a few tips, and inspired to come back to Switzerland to tackle similar routes. Lupe thank YOU very much for all your help in finding perfect guide and again, Guy-Robert - many thanks for fantastic experience!

Matterhorn 2-day ascent
Tobias was an absolutely fantastic guide for our adventure on the Matterhorn (his 85th ascent!), and could not recommend him more highly as a guide and person. We required a second guide for the actual matterhorn climb as there was two of us - instead of Tobias telling us to find someone, he fully arranged another guide that he knew and trusted for the trip up, which allowed us to focus solely on our climbing and training for the Matterhorn ascent. When a gear breakdown affected our training climb on the Breithorn half traverse, Tobias adapted the training and route to give us a bit more time and coaching with the skills needed to successfully summit the Horn. He kept expectations very realistic, and pushed us as positively and confidently as possible. As a result, we made great time to the Matterhorn summit and back. He was also in constant communication in the months leading up to the climb, and constantly provided helpful tips and advice. Even met us for a drink when we arrived in Zermatt to introduce ourselves and gain some familiarity before the climbing began! The climb was a trip of a lifetime, and would not have been possible without Tobias. I will be booking with him again for my next trip to climb in the alps.

Matterhorn guided climb via Hornli ridge
Guide Guy-Robert May was absolutely excellent in the strict sense of being a mountain guide. He demonstrated outstanding knowledge of the route, safety procedures and technical aspects of the climb. However, I noted that Guy-Robert and the other local guides working with clients during my ascent seemed singularly interested in getting their work-day done quickly. I came to understand a few aspects behind their motivation. Firstly, I noted the guides don\'t want un-guided climbing groups to follow their route. Secondly, I learned that many of the guides have back to back bookings and need to return to the Hörnli Hut or Zermatt to meet their next clients at a certain time. Given that this is their profession, I understand the guides\' desire to move things along quickly. Unfortunately rather than being forthcoming, the guides attempted to justify their reasons for such speed solely under the pretense of safety. After 30 years of mountaineering throughout the world, I am keenly aware that speed equals safety in the mountains. However for many including myself, the joy of climbing includes more than just the physical challenge. Taking moments to enjoy being in the mountains can be just as important as reaching the summit. Simply pushing a client to move as fast as possible leaves little room for that enjoyment. On the Matterhorn like any climb there are positions of relative safety. The summit and Solvay Refuge specifically come to mind. I would have liked to see my guide provide for a more leisurely stop in these areas to afford me time to enjoy my surroundings. I would highly recommend Guide Guy-Robert May to anyone solely intent on conquering their intended Swiss summit. However, for those looking to enjoy their climbs, immerse themselves in their surroundings and indulge in the technical skills being used this type of booking may not be for you. I regret not having a critical conversation with my guide about his climbing strategy prior to finalizing my booking. I am very happy to have made the summit and give all of the credit to my guide. Be that as it may, I would not book another climb with him or Explore-Share without specific assurances regarding the intended climbing philosophy.

Rolando is an amazing athlete. Professional Guide. He is very compassionate. Right from the start till the end he took care of me and made me enjoy the climb. While keeping an eye on the clock he still took time to explain the landscape and key areas around. It was a great learning experience. I would surely love to get more knowledge and experience more climbs at Alps with Rolando. All the best for him.

Tobias is an amazing guide. He guided me for the Riffelhorn and a Hornli Ridge 2 day Matterhorn climb. He knew the route well and made sure we were safe the whole time. He also shifted the days because the weather was bad for the original booked days. Best guide in Zermatt, I will definitely try to book him for all future trips in this region.

The Matterhorn trip was absolutely awesome. Tobias is an EXCELLENT GUIDE. I would absolutely recommand him. Answered all my questions prior to my trip in Zermatt, gave me a lot of tricks and advice the day before and during the trip. He was very good with me and also very flexible for the ascent date. Also, I was very pleased with my experience with explore-share. It was easy, straight forward and perfect. The customer service was also real good. Was exactly (and even more!) what I needed!

2-day Matterhorn summit via the Hörnli Ridge, from Zermatt
Daniel guided us safely to Matterhorn summit via Hörnli Ridge. We visited Swiss and Italian summits and then headed back to Hörnli Hut. In very good conditions this whole trip took us just approx. 8 hours. Daniel is a very strong and skilled climber – he knows the route, gives good insight on how to climb each section and is continuously aware during short roping to prevent a possible slip. Just understand that Matterhorn climb is a very intense effort - there\'s not awfully lot of time for taking photos, admiring the views or relaxing during the climb.

Matterhorn 2 Day Guided Climb From Switzerland
One thing I was not happy with that l had to book Horinlihut when I was already in Switzerland. As a tourist, it\'s not easy to give a call since I didn\'t have a phone. Honrlihut had a cookie problem, so I could book online. Why don\'t you give a price that includes hut? then you book for a client? It would be more appreciated. Apart from that, I had a wonderful guide! Thanks so much indeed.

Incredible adventure. The contact and the organisation with Peaks Hunter was perfect. The experience with the Guide (Claudio) was also perfect. Very professional guide, perfect French speaker. It was a pleasure to spend those two days with him. Reaching the summit without him would have been impossible. (Do not believe in the Youtube videos over the Lion Ridge, they are not a good representation of the journey, much harder but way more nice) Thank you Peaks Hunter.

4-day traverse in the Silvretta Alps
Etienne is a great guide with plenty of mountain knowledge and experience. He expertly guided the 4 of us across the Silvretta Alps, through conditions both white-out and blue sky, starting at Ischgl and staying in mountain huts in Austria and Switzerland. His passion for the mountains is evident and we felt very safe in his risk adverse hands. Etienne speaks perfect English and has a good sense of humour, which made for good company at the card table in the evenings. I would recommend him to anyone and look forward to touring again with him next year. Andy

Chamonix-Zermatt, the Haute Route ski tour
Claudio is an excellent guide who takes safety seriously. He is extremely knowledgeable and was able to judge our capabilities and pace our trips perfectly. We hired Claudio for a small group trip on two occasions in 2018 and 2019 and will go with him again in 2021 if we can. Our attempts at the Haute Route both failed after 4-5 days due to bad weather, but sooner or later we will complete it!

4-day traverse in the Silvretta Alps
Our group of six have just returned from a magical four day tour of the Silvretta Traverse. The sun shone, the snow was superb and all the while Renato led us with a mixture humour, patient consideration and under-stated authority. He taught us the key skills of ski touring, including vital avalanche training and other mountaineering craft. Renato was excellent company throughout and I could not recommend him more highly. A true gent of the mountains.

Matterhorn 2 Day Guided Climb From Switzerland
The whole experience of the Mont Blanc climb was awesome. I was really lucky to have Claudio Bastrentaz from Peaks Hunter Mountain Guide Team as a guide. He is very professional and a great guy to be with on the mountain. We made it to the summit before sunrise and the views were spectacular. It will be a memory for life.
Switzerland has some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe, thanks to the majestic Alps, making it a dream destination for hikers and outdoor lovers, and a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. You will find a wide diversity of activities for all levels, all year long, from hiking and cycling, to ski touring, snowboarding, canyoning or rafting.
Country Code:
+41
Currency:
Swiss Franc (CHF)
Language:
German, French, Italian and Romansh. Each language is spoken in different regions, although most of the people in the country’s major cities are fluent in English
What’s the weather like?
Switzerland has a temperate climate. During winter, most of the country receives generous snowfalls. Summers can be quite humid and warm. Autumn is usually cool and dry, and spring is idyllic, full of flowers and with warm temperatures
Best time to visit:
If you are looking for snow, winter is the best time to come, although you can ski all year round in many resorts high in the Alps, like Zermatt. For hiking and other activities the best time is from April till September, when the weather is milder, although it may rain in the summer
Getting there:
Conveniently located in the heart of Europe, getting to Switzerland is pretty easy. The main international airports are at Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lugano. Trains arrive from all parts of Europe daily and often in hourly intervals. You could also get there by bus, although the most scenic way to arrive is by ferry, if you are coming from Italy, France or Germany
Landlocked at the heart of Europe, Switzerland is a relatively small country, located between the stunning Alps in the south and the Jura mountains in the north. It is divided in 26 different cantons, with different customs, languages and traditions, resulting in a culturally diverse nation. Famous for its neutrality and political and economical stability, it is not a member of the European Union. The spectacular mountain scenery makes Switzerland a very popular holiday destination in the continent, with countless options for all tastes. The sunny Italian-speaking region of Ticino is a perfect destination for a relaxed summer vacation. Wine lovers should visit some of the country’s spectacular terraced vineyards
We were very happy about everything. The only thing a bit annoying was the fact that the price wasn\'t clear (or maybe I should have written all termes and conditions?) I have no problem with the price in itself, I just would have loved to know it clearly so that I could explain it to the team in advance. It did spoiled a bit my holidays to think about money, would have preferred to think about it only before or after...Thanks Arthur
