Description

If you are ready for the journey of a lifetime, then this 19-day trek to and up Nepal’s Mera Peak is definitely for you!

Mera Peak is the highest mountain in Nepal that you are allowed to trek up and stands tall, nestled among wooded valleys in the shadow of Mount Everest.

This once-in-a-lifetime adventure begins with a full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu. Stops include Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath (a Hindu temple), and Durbar Square.

Next is a quick flight to Lukla, which boasts epic views of the largest perennially snowcapped mountains on earth! This is where the trekking begins.

Over the next several days we will make our way through pristine hamlets and dense Himalayan pine forests along the Kalo Himal Ridge. Here we will be afforded absolutely spectacular views across the rolling foothills and into the Hinku Valley. Along the way we will acclimatize while staying in barn-like kharkas.

As we make our way to the foot of Mear Peak, we will enjoy sublime vistas  of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru before arriving at the perfect vantage point for gazing over the Hinku valley.

Once we arrive at the foot of Mera Peak (day 11), we begin a steep and difficult three to four hour march to our base camp. Once there we will spend the rest of the day acclimatizing and practicing some ice climbing skills. While doing this we will have the good fortune of enjoying more spectacular views.

The next morning we will begin a four to five hour trek up to the high camp. From the high camp we will be able to see the sunrise and sunset. We will also have a spectacular view of Mount Everest and numerous other iconic Himalayan peaks.

Finally, early on the next morning, we begin our climb to the summit. This will be a long and challenging day. Reaching the summit will take about six hours and getting back down will take about four.

However, the views are more than worth it! We will, again, have absolutely breathtaking views of Everest and a plethora of other 6,000ers. This will truly be an inspirational day.

After descending, we will spend the night camping in Khare before trekking back to Lukla over the next several days. Our adventure ends with one more night in Kathmandu before you return home with a lifetime’s worth of memories.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
