Description
The highest mountain range in Africa, the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda are a wonder to explore. And, for 9 amazing days, we are happy to take you on a trekking safari through the mountains that also includes climbing to the top of the highest mountain in the range: Margherita (5,109m).
Throughout this trip, you will get to explore a number of thrilling peaks. Some examples include the Virunga Volcanoes, which include Gahinga, Muhabrua and Sabyinyo. You will also get to climb Mount Rwenzori, and explore the unbelievable Mahoma Trail and the Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will also get to climb to the summit of the Margherita Peak, on Mount Stanley. Furthermore, throughout our adventure you will get to see and admire an abundance of wildlife, from a number of different mammals to over 170 different species of birds. Finally, at the end of each day, you will get to sleep in comfortable huts.
In order to participate on this trip, you should be in good physical condition. Prior hiking experience is advantageous as well.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Rwenzori Mountains
Day 2: Climb from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba hut (2,652m)
Day 3: Hike from Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut at 3.414 m.
Day 4: Hike from John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut at 3.962 m.
Day 5: Trek from Bujuku Hut to Kitandara Hut, 4.023 m.
Day 6: Hike from Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut at 3.261 m.
Day 7: Descend from Guy Yeoman Hut back to Nyabitaba Hut at 2.652 m.
Day 8: Descend from Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija.
Day 9: Transfer back to Kampala

My Mountain Trekking Team, lead by Shem gave me a very plesant experience. And specially the porter Joshua gave me a nice stay in the Mountains. On the Technical part the guide was very competent as Well. However: My experience with explore-share, not the best. I came for the technical part. I asked if the technical part was doable at this time of year, they said yes, but it was not. Nobody does it at this time of the year and my climbingguide was very surprised that anyone booked at this time for the Technical part. You could just have told me: “wait a month”. But this was not the case. I pay so much Money Money and you can’t Even Write an email to the Company and ask about the conditions. I Think it’s completly unprofessionell!

Our guide, Shem, was absolutely fabulous. He was an absolute delight and a total joy to spend time with. His knowledge was extensive and his calm demeanour and quiet wisdom and dignity made us feel totally safe and secure. The team of chef and porters that Shem brought with him were also superstars. In June, 2009 I climbed Mount Kenya, with Trekking Mount Kenya. I spent 4 days on the mountain and experienced the wonderful challenge and the friendly helpfulness and knowledge of my guides and porters.
