Description

When you think of Taiwan, it’s likely that rock climbing isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, on this trip that can last from one to several days, I aim to completely alter that perception by taking you to the gorgeous Dragon’s Cave.

Available throughout most of the year, this exciting rock climbing trip will show you the natural beauty of Taiwan’s coast. From thrilling heights, you will get to gaze down into some of the bluest water you can imagine.

The day will begin when we pick you up from either the city of Taipei, the airport or from the Ruifang train station at approximately 8:30 am. After an approximately one hour drive, we will start climbing the cliffs of the Dragon’s Cave. There are over 600 bolted and trad routes to select from in this sensational area. As a result, there will be no problem finding the perfect one for you!

The climbing day will last for approximately 8 hours, ending at around 5:30 pm. However, if you want to enjoy more climbing in the area, I can happily accommodate you. In fact, there is a climbing hostel less than 3 kilometers away from The Dragon’s Cave climbing area. Hence making a multi-day climbing trip as convenient as it is enjoyable. If you do decide to climb for additional days, you will get to enjoy spots like the First Cave and the Whale’s Head, along with many more.

Would you like to enjoy a fantastic rock climbing in Taiwan? Do you want to physically exert yourself, while enjoying some sensational views? Then send me a request and come to the Dragon’s Cave and let’s start climbing!

Rock Guide

I am an AMGA certified rock guide and SPI provider based in Taiwan. A former adventure racer, I got hooked to rock climbing in 2005 after my friends took me to Ao Tonsai in Thailand. I very quickly ditched my adventure racing gear and never looked back.

Today I run a small guide service with all AMGA certified Single Pitch Instructors and own a small family style hostel (The Bivy) in Dragon’s Cave,Taiwan. We will show you the best ways to travel Asia and take you to the best climbing crags around.

Want to sign up for an adventure? We are the only company in Asia with all AMGA certified instructors and climbing professionals focused on giving you the best outdoor experience.

Kelly is an exceptional rock climbing guide! We had no prior experience with belaying / ropes and she made sure to provide us with all the equipment we needed and to give us an introduction of belay devices and how to belay. She was very attentive to our skill level (we had some prior climbing experience in indoor gyms but have never climbed outdoors) and tailored each climb perfectly so that we could gain confidence on the earlier routes and be challenged in a fulfilling way on the latter routes. This personalised experience was what really made the whole trip a success to us! Kelly's expertise in rock climbing, familiarity with the Long Dong area and patient and cheery demeanour made our trip a safe, fun and thoroughly enjoyable one. If Kelly is your guide, you're in good hands! The experience turned out to be everything we wanted and more, we will definitely recommend Kelly and QX to our friends!
