Description

If you join me on this 10-day tour exploring the Lofoten Islands, we will be re-tracing the steps of the mythical Vikings, and along the way we will take in the stunning Arctic scenery, from white sandy beaches and rocky mountains through to mesmerizing glaciers and the wide open ocean.

The tranquil fishing villages that dot the landscape are also something truly special to behold, as are the numerous species of animals that we will encounter.

Located 200km North of the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands have evidence of human settlement going back approximately 11,000 years, and was previously a Viking stronghold, something the area is very proud of and has maintained a strong link to.

The sheer variation in landscape and terrain is something to behold, and we will go to great lengths to ensure you get to experience as much of it as you can.

After flying to the start point of Bodo and spending the night in a hotel, we then set off to the Lofoten Islands, and once there we instantly have brilliant views over the villages, a constant feature of the next 9 days. We spend the first two nights in a traditional fishing hut known as a ‘Rorbu’.

Over the course of the next week every day is a veritable natural wonderland of activities, including strolling along sandy white beaches, watching out for whales and seals, and visiting the village of Nusfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – all of this is in one day as well!

Other days will be spent visiting the colossal break in the awesome Norwegian continental shelf, hiking up splendid mountains for yet more breath-taking views, and visiting and admiring some absolutely captivating glaciers and waterfalls.

The penultimate day is spent arriving to and looking around the city of Tromso, before we finish the trip the next day with a flight back to Geneva, the sights and sounds of the Lofoten Islands giving us memories to last a lifetime.

Exploring the Lofoten Islands is a kaleidoscope of fun and beauty – book now to experience them!

For those with more of an adventurous side, I also offer Ski touring in Lapland, just across the border in Sweden, here!
