An original destination for skiing off-piste in this fabulous Himalayan environment. Exceptional quality of snow assured. Meeting with Indian culture of the Himalayan valleys. A very attractive price for a trip of this magnitude.
Gulmarg, the “Meadow of Flowers”, is a small mountain resort, in the State of Jammu-and-Kashmir, in the Indian Himalaya, which has long been a holiday resort very appreciated by both Indian princely families and by British people in post in India, before falling into oblivion because of rebellions and insecurity. Since the ceasefire between India and Pakistan in 2003, and the return of peace and relative calm, tourism is reborn.
Nestled among the imposing peaks of the Himalaya, including the K2 at 8611m, Gulmarg, at 2690m is the highest and the best-equipped ski resort of continental Asia with a lot of ski lifts and a cable car which culminates at 3950m. Thanks to heavy snowfall during the winter season, the powder snow is abundant and of extraordinary quality.
Opportunities of off-piste and touring ski are countless, even in bad weather thanks to the protection of magnificent forests. Descents will be made to the station or to the adjacent valleys, from where we go back to the hotel by minibus. This highly original destination for skiing off-piste and hiking also helps to meet the rich culture of the remote Himalayan valleys.
Heliskiing is also possible in Gulmarg. Contact me for more information!
