Description
Widely considered to be one of the most beautiful mountains in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prenj Mountain is the perfect spot for a 2+ day ski touring adventure!
Nestled into the Dinaric Alps, in northern Herzegovina, we will ski into the heart of the mountain range, climbing up to some of its highest peaks and enjoying incredible descents.
The adventure begins after we pick you up from your accommodation in Mostar and drive out to the trailhead in Rustie (1,000 m). Once here, we will gear up and begin skiing into a high forest, until we emerge above the tree line.
After arriving at the Mountain Hut (1,450 m), we will drop off our gear and spend the rest of the afternoon skiing through the unspoiled powder in the heart of beautiful Prenj Moutnain.
On the second day, we will wake up in the morning and ski to the base of the highest summit on Prenj. From here, we ascend up 800 metres until we reach the top.
After taking in the panoramic and gorgeous vistas out over the mountains and valleys, we will ski back to the Mountain Hut and return to Rustie.
If you'd like to spend a little more time exploring the Moutnain, we will also have the opportunity to keep skiing after we summit Prenj and continue the trip to another mountain hut.
Once we get back, we'll enjoy a hot and traditional dinner at a national restaurant before driving back to Mostar.

Welcome to your Herzegovina Hiking Adventure. My name is Miroslav Mihalj, born in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am the current president of the Croatian Mountaineering Association “Prenj 1933 Mostar”, certified Mountain Guide and Rescuer and I offer hiking, snowshoeing and ski touring tours around this beautiful region.
As mountain hiker I am proud to have climbed some of the highest peaks in Europe and Balkans as well as local peaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which I have climbed numerous times both in winter and summer.
I enjoy nature, that feeling of freedom and serenity the mountains offer. They are a place to find yourself and push your boundaries. I’m lucky to have been born in a place surrounded by beautiful and intact mountain ranges hiding the most exciting nature my country has to offer.

The hiking tour with zvone was absolutely great - we had a really good time!

We went on a hike with Mirela, who was clearly experienced and very familiar with the trail. Reaching the peak was an incredible feeling — the views were absolutely breathtaking and made every step worthwhile. We enjoyed a relaxed lunch at the top, took some time to rest, and then began our descent. The ascent was well-paced and manageable, but the descent proved more challenging. At times, it felt like Mirela wasn’t adjusting her pace to match ours, as she was often quite far ahead. When we asked how much longer we had to go, her time estimates didn’t feel accurate, which made it harder to manage our energy and expectations. Overall, we appreciated her knowledge and the stunning scenery, but a more attentive and supportive approach on the way down would have made the experience even better.

We really enjoyed our trip with our guide Mijo. He was extremely good in communicating at WhatsApp and very flexible. We ended our trip in a beautiful river with amazing surrounding view. I can highly recommend to do some hiking in the mountains around Mostar, really worth it.
