The archipelago of the Azores comprises of 9 volcanic islands scattered across the North Atlantic Ocean, around 850 miles west of mainland Portugal.
Located among the central group of the Azores is Pico Island, dominated by the 2,351-meter Ponta do Pico volcano, which is the highest point in the Azores, as well as in Portugal.
Designated as a UNESCO-listed site that covers the historical vineyards, the island holds majestic landscapes that form the ideal background for a thrilling day of touring.
The unique scenery was created by volcanic crates as well as lagoons that form the Achada Plateau of Pico Island.
As well as exploring the wide open outdoors, we’ll take our lanterns and throw on helmets before heading into the network of winding caves and lava tubes. These fantastic geological structures offer an unforgettable underground experience.
Our action packed day will begin around 9:30 in the morning and end at approximately 6 in the evening, containing an 8-hour tour.
We’ll visit natural parks, unknown caves and RAMSAR sites, which are protected wetland sites of environmental importance.

➤ People with claustrophobia may find this tour challenging, as the caves have narrow entrances and some sections require crawling.

When will I receive my refund?
The refunds are directly processed through the Explore-Share team. The refunds will only be processed after the date of the activity. Usually 24 hours after the date of the activity, Explore-Share sends an e-mail to Tripix asking if the activity has been carried of not. After Tripix answers it was not completed, justifying the reason, the Explore- Share Team will make the arrangements to refund the client as soon as possible.
Are there specific dates when activities aren’t running/being operated?
Tripix Azores operates year-round; however, depending on the time of year, there may be limited availability from certain local producers or museums. Please note that museums are closed on Mondays throughout the year. Wine tastings are also unavailable on Sundays and public holidays during the peak season (June to September), and closed on weekends and holidays during the low season (October to May). We make every effort to schedule tours that include these visits on alternative dates.
During the low season, Tripix Azores — like many tour operators — scales back its operations. Weekend tours will only run with a minimum of four participants. If fewer than four people register, the tour will not proceed as scheduled. In this case, you may choose to reschedule or upgrade to a private tour so that the activity can take place.
All activities are subject to weather conditions.
