Bakuriani is situated in Borjomi Region. At 1,700 meters above sea level in the Borjomi region of Georgia, Bakuriani is located in the Caucasus Mountains, just three hours from Tbilisi. Home to dozens of alpine slopes and cross-country trails, it is the perfect place for skiing and snowboarding.
Originally developed for Olympic training, Bakuriani is the most heavily visited winter resort throughout Georgia. Enjoy the downhill ski runs, cross-country trails, horseback tours, sledding, night skiing, toboggan, ice skating, snowmobile tours, bike park or just walk on snow while admiring the beautiful winter landscape.
On this half-day adventure (2 to 4 hours), we will have the chance to discover the park’s beautiful landscapes on snowshoes. Snowshoeing is an easygoing winter sport that involves using snowshoes to prevent you from sinking too deeply into the snow or slipping on ice. It is the perfect way to explore both the mountains and valleys in winter. On our snowshoe trips, we also talk about the snowpack and how to choose a safe route depending on weather conditions. We will set off from the Bakuriani-Crystal Settlement or Kokhta station, and after a short warm-up and trip briefing, we will spend around 3 hours out on the snow as we traverse a total distance of around 5 kms (3.1mi).
This program is open to everyone. No prior snowshoeing skills are necessary, however, you will need to have a good fitness level. Of course, we will be there to help and guide you every step of the way.
