However, its snow-covered slopes do not look like a very tropical mountain and, on the contrary, they are excellent spots to practice some backcountry skiing. Whether you are looking for your first experience or have vast backcountry skiing knowledge, Cayambe is a great destination which will leave you with the best memories. **Ecuador’s triple crown** is composed of the **Nevado Cayambe, Cotopaxi, and Chimborazo summits**. They are the 3 most epic mountains in the country and I have planned **a epic 15-day ski touring adventure around them**.

One of the highlights of Ecuador’s triple crown is the **amazing vertical drops from their summits**. You have to see the variety of ski runs and stunning views the region offers.

In order to make you feel physically good before starting, we’ll spend the first days acclimatizing on **Fuya-Fuya and Imbabura**. We will also do some hiking across the high mountain terrains of the area, getting used to the altitude. **For the rest of the days, we will focus on the summits and the ski descents from an altitude of 6000 meters!**

This **ski mountaineering trip** is suitable for advanced skiers. Although you won’t need technical skills to climb the volcanoes, you’ll have to ascend them using skins or carrying them on your back.

**The ideal plan is to skin as much as possible. However, there are some steep and icy slopes that won’t let us do it. Thus, it’s mandatory to have advanced physical fitness and a ski mountaineering background.**

Ecuador’s triple crown guided skiing trip

This program offers you the chance to explore **Antisana** and **Cayambe**, two amazing stratovolcanoes in Ecuador! Both of them are situated in the **Cordillera Real**, in the northern area of the country. Antisana has an altitude of **5,704 meters**. As for Cayambe, at **5,790 meters** above sea level, it is the third highest summit in the country.

On this trip we’ll visit these stunning volcanoes. Additionally, we’ll also visit other peaks for acclimatization purposes and where we’ll be able to enjoy ski touring. Some of the peaks we will visit include **Fuya Fuya** (**4,263 meters**) and **Imbabura** (**4,630 meters**). Also, we’ll explore the **Cuicocha Lake** and visit the **Plaza de Ponchos**. As for the **accommodation**, we’ll spend the nights in hotels, huts and tents. Please, take a look at the bottom of the page for a more detailed description of the activities.

Lastly, because this is a challenging excursion, your will need a **good fitness level** as well as **prior skiing experience** to be part of this trip. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you on the way.
