Situated on the northwestern shore of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) south of Cancun, Playa del Carmen is a popular tourist hotspot.
While many activities, such as hiking and snorkeling are popular at the resort town, heading out on a mountain biking adventure is easily the best way to experience this stunning place.
Aside from the cenotes in the nearby tropical rainforest, there are plenty of other great places to explore on a mountain bike. Among these is heading on a day-long tour of the Isla Mujeres, which sits just off the coastline of Yucatan. Here, mountain bikers can ride along more stunning beaches and visit an ancient Mayan temple as well.
Back on the mainland, there are plenty of other great cycling options. One of the most popular is to head to the small resort town of Tulum and go on a cycling tour along its coastline and through the surroundings.
