Oman is the Gulf’s hidden gem. Complete with varied landscapes and perfect wintertime temperatures, the country is ideal for trail running during this time of year.
Most trips are based out of Muscat and give you easy access to a variety of different spots. The mountains, coast and desert are all particularly popular destinations.
Once you’ve gotten in your kilometers for the day, head out and explore other parts of the country too. Hiking and caving in the mountains are both popular activities. Also, be sure to also check out some of the country’s pristine beaches and either to take in the sun or try out some surfing. Desert safaris on camel-back are also quite popular.
Oman has one of the hottest climates on Earth, which is why trail running is best done during the winter. At this time, average daily temperatures are still around 18ºC to 26ºC. Rain is very rare at this time of year.
The best way to get to Oman is to fly into Oman International Airport (MCT). The airport receives direct flights from some European Asian and African locations. Several major international airlines also service the airport. From the airport, most guides offer transport to the start of the trip.
