Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Suswa Ranch Resort

We’ll leave Nairobi at 7.30 am for the Great Rift Valley, passing by the Ngong Hills. Here, you’ll start biking down the Rift Valley over a distance of 47 kilometers. The picturesque Ngong Forest plus the stunning views of the floor of the Rift dotted by extinct volcanoes and long salty lakes will be some of the most memorable sights on this unique safari.

We’ll have lunch on the way and arrive at the ranch in the mid-afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Suswa Ranch Resort.

Day 2: Suswa Ranch Resort to Masai Mara National Park

We’ll leave Suswa Ranch Resort at 7.30 am and biking through Masai plains, we’ll get to Narok town (a distance of about 87 kilometers. Cycling will not be done throughout the 87 kilometers because of mountainous terrains) where we’ll have lunch. Continuing by safari vehicle to the Masai Mara National Park, we’ll arrive in the Masai Mara Game Park in the late afternoon and have a well-deserved bath before relaxing on the luxury campgrounds or in a bar/restaurant. We’ll have our dinner and then an overnight stay at the luxury camp.

Day 3: Explore Masai Mara National Park

Since it is not allowed to cycle in the wildlife sanctuary of Masai Mara, we’ll go on game viewing drives in our customized safari van. There are both morning and afternoon game drives where we’ll see the amazing wildlife. Maasai Mara Game Reserve includes over 450 species of animals. Although July, August, and September are the months when the Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeests and zebras, there is also resident wildlife all year-round. The famous Maasai tribesmen live very close to the game reserve. Dinner and overnight will be at the Sentrim Mara Luxury Camp.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Continue in Masai Mara National Park

After breakfast, you will proceed on another full day of game viewing within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for a game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close range viewing and photography. You will then take a break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight will be at the Sentrim Mara Luxury Camp.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Masai Mara National Park to Kericho

After arriving, at this lakeside town, you’ll have a city tour (by bicycle) of the local museum with its rich archeological findings, the municipal market and the lakeside at Dunga Beach. You’ll also see the golden sunset over Lake Victoria. Dinner and overnight at the Milimani Resort hotel in the city.

Day 7: Kisumu to Lwanda K’otieno to Mbita Point

We’ll depart for Lwanda K’Otieno. Our western Kenya trip starts with a road transfer to the Kisian market (13 kilometers away). After a tour of this site with its monuments of huge boulders and underground caves, we’ll proceed to Ndori still biking through tropical savannah and Indian corn farms. The Climbing Guides and service in both Kenya and Tanzania were super (5+ stars) Kenya Shem, Joxhu, Joseph & Agustin super and thanks. For Kilimanjaro, Deus and Goodlucky were fantastic. However Claudios needs to update the schedule (Lake Nakuru day 7 was canceled) and make available lunches (they were missing on 3 days to and from Nairobi) and make clear when travel will be alone. Finally the Nairobi service agent pushes additional add on Nairobi packages. These are of poor value and should be avoided. These additional package coverage was misleading and I should have avoided completely. This was a Nairobi issue only. Everyone else was above board and super to work with. in summary, the climbs are great and highly recommended. Note the published schedule is not exact and deal with the Nairobi service agent with caution. (Don't take the additional offerings.) Overall it was a very good experience where I met with many great people. Thanks to all.

I had a successful hiking trip with Shem as my chief guide! We were successful in summiting Mt Kenya and came back down via the Chogoria route well! The team worked really well together and communication was professional as well as clear/transparent. I appreciated that every single person in the crew were up to task, responsible, and respectful. Shem, my guide, was very friendly and accomodating to my questions, needs and requests. He was also very kind and encouraging, i.e. encouraging me to walk on my own pace and take breaks while going up and down the mountains and valleys. The team also consisted of a cook, Augustine, and two porters - Joshua and Julius. They all seem to be working as a team really well. Augustine would check on how I feel each day (e.g. stomach and gut health) and he is such a good cook! Joshua and Julius are both quiet, strong and helpful porters. Despite the heavy loads on their backs, they would always have no problem getting to every destination on time (waaaaay earlier than me!). I had a great and memorable time in Mt Kenya. We started off the trek on the last day of 2023 and it was so special welcoming the new year above the clouds! I highly recommend for adventurers out there who are looking for the perfect team to enjoy Mt Kenya with to reach out to these guys! Ask for Shem as the guide -- guarantee that he won't disappoint! 😊

My partner and I had a fantastic experience hiking the Chogoria to Sirimon Mt Kenya route. The full team (Shem the guide, the chef (Gustin) and the Porters (Joshua, Peter, Jackson and Gilbert) were excellent and thoroughly looked after us. We were never hungry and the food was excellent and kept our energy levels up. When we were a little poorly they looked after us. Shem the guide always made sure we were OK, and was great at excellent the plants and sharing information about the surroundings. Would highly recommend this team.
