Description

For 2 days I would like to teach you a number of important winter mountaineering skills. Furthermore, I would like to teach you those skills in the amazing Sierra Nevada Mountains, near Lugros, in the Spanish province of Granada.

This level 2 course is perfect for people who love mountaineering. The course will help you improve upon the skills you already have, while also giving you the chance to learn some new ones. Ultimately, this 2-day course will provide a lot of useful instruction that you can use in future climbing expeditions.

This course will cover several important aspects of winter mountaineering. You will learn about equipment use, including crampons and ice axes. You will learn about identifying different types of snow, which is important for avalanche safety. And, you will learn about descending techniques, self-arresting techniques, as well as how to make a bivouac in the snow.

It is important that participants on this trip are in good physical condition.

The more you learn about winter mountaineering, the better at it you will become. And I believe at the conclusion of this 2 day, level 2 course, you will learn a great deal of important skills and techniques. To participate in this course, just send me a request.  I look forward to guiding you.

About the guide

UIMLA Mountain Leader | AEGM Tour guide Mountain / Mountain Leader Sports Technician

Since I was a kid I travelled around the hills and peaks of Sierra Nevada range in south Spain, going up and down the valleys that made me in love with the mountains world.

Steadily, I discovered other ranges of the Iberic peninsula such as the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa, and then I travelled to the peruvian Andes, the Amazonas jungle, the Moroccan Atlas...

Thanks to these experiences and two years of studying to become a professional mountain guide, I started a new project called Nevalia mountain guides.

I hope I can help you to make true your mountain dreams!

I really enjoyed the trip! Alejandro was a great guide. The only few things to work on are: -Alcazaba was not possible because of snow. I definitely understand this but it was not communicated until we were on the trail -Explore share was difficult as a third party to communicate with- It worked better once I got email working directly -I think the cost for the trip is high but if it goes to the guide and not explore-share that's one thing.. if a lot goes to explore-share I would prefer to find guides on my own

Our guide was changed on us last minute. Before the hike, I had missed the messages from the guide because the notifications went to a weird place in my email inbox. Because we messaged him late, he cancelled on us. I was worried we wouldn't be able to go on the hike at all. Luckily, we ended up going with a different guide, Victoria, who was lovely.

This trip was amazing and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in hiking. We went on 9 and 10 of December but we were lucky and the weather conditions was really good. The nature and the view were fascinating. Alejandro was an excellent guide! Very professional and a very nice guy. All these elements combining together made this trip an unforgettable experience!

That was a blast, I truly had a wonderful time! Everything went just perfectly, thanks a lot to my guide Alejandro for your professionalism, patience and flexibility. I am looking forward to my next trek in the Sierra Nevada (or elsewhere, who knows?) and will definitely think of Nevalia

Alejandro could not be more perfect for anyone looking to summit Mulhacén! He planned our winter ascent impeccably and although we were very lucky with the weather (blue skies and epic views - if a tad chilly!), our successful and joyful climb was very much down to him and his attitude . I would also add that as far as mountain refuges go, Mulhacén's is a goodie :)
