Located in northern Greece, the Pindus Mountains are perfect for practicing winter activities, and ski touring is the local people’s favourite ! These mountains separate the Epirus region from the regions of Macedonia and Thessaly. With their steep slopes and white peaks, adventurers from all over the world choose these mountains to spend some time away from noisy and busy cities. The Pindus Mountains are the perfect place to relax and have fun, all at the same time!
On this occasion, I propose to you a challenging 4-day program that will probably leave you breathless! Every day we will ski down from different mountain summits such as Goura’s (2.467m) and Gamila’s (2.497m). We will also choose some comfortable spots to spend the nights in order to recover from the last adventure and prepare ourselves for the next one: a remote hut in the mountains or a B&B in a small charming town are some of the accommodation options I offer.
On this trip I can take a maximum of 3 people with me. We will be climbing to 3000m so it’s necessary to have some ski touring experience and be physically prepared for the challenge. You will need all your strength and energy to climb those steep mountains.

Itinerary
Day 1: From the Airport to our Refuge
We will depart from Ioannina and travel to Papikon, one of the most charming, small towns in Greece. From there, we will head to our comfy and warm refuge in Astraka mountain, located at 1950m between the peaks of Astraka and Lapatos. We will have to ascent 2 hours to reach our accommodation. The best part of this place it’s to be in the middle of the mountain with beautiful landscapes and some great adventures waiting for us. After check in, we will have our first ski experience for 2 thrilling hours.
Day 2: The first route
After a delicious breakfast, we will departure at 8.30am from the Astraka refuge to one of the three famous mountain summits of the region: Gamila. We will ski tour down its slopes for about 4 to 5 hours before heading to our next accommodation in Tsepelovo Village.
Day 3: Goura Summit
We will have a early breakfast at 6.00am and departure at 7.30am to Skamneli, a village built in the fringes of the Tymfi mountain. From there, we will head to our next thrilling top: Goura. We will ski tour between 5 and 6 hours and we will spend the night back in Tsepélovo Village.
Day 4: Avalos Passage
This final day will complete your journey with the best ski touring experience. After an early breakfast, we will travel to Avalos Passage (2320m) and from there, we will descend more than 1300m. After this last full-filled adventure, we will head to the village, where we will spend the last night of this unforgettable trip.
Day 5: Back to the Airport
We will leave to Ioannina’s city early in the morning, arriving there at 10.30am. There you will have free time to enjoy the city. A good relaxing idea is to spend some time in the Pamvotida lake or enjoy the artistic and cultural events the city offers. After a beautiful day, The next thing to do is to plan our next adventure together, before saying goodbye!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
