Description

Come see one of the most aesthetically pleasing and captivating regions of Bahia and spend five days traversing in the Pati Valley in Chapada Diamantina! This guided program explores the stunning landscapes of Brazil from Lencois and gives you first-hand exposure to the jaw-dropping beauty of South America!

Located in the Bahia region of Brazil, the Chapada Diamantina – which means “Diamond Plateau” – is an area that includes a national park of the same name and diverse, endemic flora and fauna to Northeast Brazil. The area has a fascinating caatinga biome at over 500 meters, as well as Brazilian cerrado and dense forests. Its position in the Espinhaco Range covers roughly 38,000-square kilometers, and the Pati Valley is often considered the most magnificent part of the territory.

Your five day program will give you an up close and personal look at all of the wonder this region has to offer. From cascading waterfalls and winding rivers to rolling hills and historic villages, you will experience an enriching region of Brazil known for its vast beauty and compelling culture. Beginning in the colonial town of Lencois, we will head into Chapada Diamanta to start our journey.

Common objectives in the Pati Valley over the course of our traverse include the phenomenal views of Rampa do Quebra-Bunda and the Morro Manoel Victor, as well as the Cachoeira do Calixto, a pristine waterfall with pools at its base. The natural beauty of the valley is relentless, providing days upon days of outstanding sites. We will take on inclines, descents, bridges, ramps, and a number of exciting and engaging trails.

You can expect to hike through elevated plateaus such as Gerais do Rio Preto and cross the Black River. Trekking up to 1,600 meters is possible for ambitious itineraries, and we can peer out at the evocative views from the 280-meter Cachoeirao waterfall before dipping into the crystal waters below. One of the best ways to culminate the trip is the infamous Ascent of the Empire, admiring the views of the Pati Valley before descending down to Andarai and returning to Lencois.

Days will begin early, often at 6:00am, and feature substantial walks of up to 20 kilometers in challenging terrain. You should be physically fit and prepared for moderate to demanding hiking trails. There are a wealth of incredible objectives within Pati Valley and Chapada Diamantina, so let us know what your goals are for the five days and we can build parts of the itinerary around your needs and abilities.

My extensive experience in Brazil and Bahia will ensure we have a safe and satisfactory journey through one of the country’s most beautiful areas. I am dedicated to providing a comfortable and fulfilling adventure, always safe and organized, so you can focus on having a blast.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
