Description
Looking for a winter trekking experience with an overnight stay in a mountain hut? This is one of the top options in San Carlos de Bariloche!
We’ll begin our adventure from the iconic Circuito Chico area, hiking through a lush forest of native coihue trees. As we gain elevation, the scenery becomes increasingly mesmerizing with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
Our destination is a cozy mountain hut where we’ll warm up, dry our gear, and enjoy a hearty Patagonian dinner. After a restful night, we’ll hike back to our starting point the following day.
Depending on conditions, we’ll assess the need for snowshoes, crampons, or winter boots to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey during the winter and spring seasons.

Itinerary
Day 1: Ascent to Refugio López
We’ll hike 5 km uphill along a fairly steep trail, gaining approximately 550 meters in elevation, until we reach the López Hut, where we’ll spend the night.
Day 2: Descent to the Trailhead
We’ll descend along the same trail back to the vehicles.
