Description

Laguna Esmeralda is a beautiful lake hidden in the middle of the mountains in the southernmost Argentinian province of Tierra del Fuego. If you are coming to Patagonia and love trekking, this spot is a must!

On this half-day trip, we’ll put our rackets on and go through the forest on a less known route to the lake. While snowshoeing, we’ll explore valleys and meadows, and contemplate the stunning views of Sierra Alvear. After two hours of walking, we’ll reach Laguna Esmeralda and enjoy a hot beverage. Finally, after circling the lagoon, we’ll take a different path on our way back.

Please, keep in mind that this trek  is moderately difficult. Therefore, it is very important to be physically fit to take part in it. The duration of the walk will be of around 6 hours.

So, does this trek in Laguna Esmeralda sound tempting? Then do not hesitate to send the request and book your place. I will be glad to guide you on this adventure in the Argentinian Patagonia.

Another option could be this trekking excursion that I offer to Martial Glacier, also in Tierra del Fuego. Check it out!

Mountain Guide

Mountain Guide, GEM-AAGM Ski Guide, UIMLA, AIARE level 2 from Argentina.

I was born and live in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world! I've been skiing since I was 2 years old, and competed as a ski athlete in a Nordic ski and Biathlon world ski championships, world cups and in the winter Olimpic Games Torino 2006

In 2007 I retired from professional competitions to focus on my guiding career. I trained on rock, ice and mixed climbing skills as well as guiding techniques and became a mountain guide in 2011 at the Argentinean Mountaineering Guides Association (AAGM). In 2017 I completed the guiding courses to become also a certified Ski Mountain Guide GEM-AAGM.

I've done a large number of technical climbs at the Darwin Range and Patagonia while many of those are new lines

Sebastian was a great guide! We felt very safe and it was really fun getting to know him. We liked him so much we decided we would do a second trip while we are in town. If I ever come back to Ushuaia, I will definitely track him down for more trips

Marine was a really wonderful guide and she made the 3 day trek around Tierra del Fuego a great pleasure for us. She is very knowledgable and a very professional guide. Marine also helped us with renting clothes that we needed and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we would need. I would definitely recommend this trek as well as Marine and Seba. Booking and paying through explore-share was also very easy and efficient. Thank you to all!

My friend and I went for a day backcountry skiing to Martial Galcier. We had a brilliant time, the guide was a champion!

Facundo was amazing! I have some climbing experience and my partner had never climbed before. Similarly, my partner speaks Spanish but I only speak English. Facundo not only guided us expertly through several routes but also taught us a lot about Ushuaia. The experience does involve a 20-30 minute hike to the climbing location so be prepared for a trek. But it was a fantastic experience and highly recommend being able to say you climbed in Patagonia :)
