Description

The Snæfellsjökull glacier is one of Iceland’s most stunning natural landmarks. Beneath its icy surface lies a dormant stratovolcano, approximately 700,000 years old, standing 1,446 meters above sea level. Its last known eruption occurred in 250 AD.

This one-day adventure takes you to the summit of the glacier, offering a unique opportunity to explore the same dramatic setting that inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The region is steeped in history, legend, and natural beauty. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views that stretch from the Reykjanes Peninsula in the south all the way to the West Fjords in the north. Reaching the trailhead requires driving through Snæfellsnes National Park.

Often described as “Iceland in miniature,” the park showcases the country’s rich and varied landscapes — from black sand beaches and lava fields blanketed in moss, to secluded waterfalls, hidden caves, and unique wildlife. This full-day excursion promises dramatic scenery, fascinating geology, and a physically demanding trek across snow-covered glacier terrain.

The hike together with group was super nice and fun with lots of laughter. We had all what Iceland could offer - snow, ice, rain, wind, sun, dramatically beautiful nature and delicious food. Our guide Ágúst was super! He has a lot of energy and knowledge. Additionally he is a good people person and very good cook. I enjoyed the 5 day hike in Laugavegur together with group very much and would recommend it to anyone!
