Itinerary

Day 1: Hammersbach to Kreuzeckhaus

Our journey begins at the Hammersbach hiking lot as we head toward the Höllentalklamm Gorge. Passing the Höllentaleingangshütte, we navigate the wild and awe-inspiring gorge, arriving at the Höllentalangerhütte for a well-deserved break with stunning views of the Höllental.

Continuing past the historic miners’ houses and over the Hupfleitenjoch, we reach our cozy destination for the night, the Kreuzeckhaus.

Day 2: Reintalangerhütte

We get closer to our ultimate goal—the Zugspitze—by entering the serene Reintal. Passing the Stuibenhütte, we descend to the Bockhütte, where delicious coffee and cake await.

The day’s final stretch takes us westward along the beautiful Partnach Valley to the Reintalangerhütte, where we can dip our tired feet in the cool river and relax in the peaceful alpine surroundings.

Day 3: Summit Day

Today, we conquer the Zugspitze! A steady ascent brings us to the Zugspitzplatt and the Knorrhütte, where we drop off unneeded gear and fuel up. From here, we continue toward the Sonnalpin, assessing weather and energy levels before tackling the final roped section on the southern flank to the summit.

For those who prefer, the last 400 meters can be completed by cable car. At the top, we celebrate with summit photos and panoramic views from the "Roof of Germany" before descending back to the Knorrhütte for the night.

Day 4: Knorrhütte to Ehrwald

The last stage is not just a descent—it’s a scenic finale through the magnificent Wetterstein Mountains. We cross the Zugspitzplatt and pass through the "Gatterl," the border crossing between Germany and Austria.

Following picturesque trails, we descend to Ehrwald, where we take the train back to Hammersbach, wrapping up our unforgettable adventure.
