Description

Planning a mountaineering adventure to the Alps or some other exotic mountain destination? Then head out to the United Kingdom first for some Alpine training across multiple locations!

From Scotland’s Cairngorms to the lovely English Lake District and stunning Snowdonia in Wales, we can head out to any of these spectacular locations to build up your skill set and make some excellent ascents.

Each of these three spots is a veritable playground for climbing and we’re sure to have a blast wherever we go.

Depending on your skills, how long you have to spend climbing and your preferences, we will tailor the perfect itinerary that best prepares you for your next trip.

General rope maintenance, taking rope coils and rope work
Body belays, selecting and using direct belays
Rock protection
Route finding and navigation
Descending and abseiling
How to prusik
Crevasse rescue training
Ice axe and crampon techniques (only available during the winter)

Summer Mountaineering Instructor

Summer Mountaineering Instructor and Winter Mountain Leader.

I am the owner at Rock n Ridge and have spent over 20 years enjoying the mountains of the UK & Europe. I hold the Mountain Instructors Award (MIA) which is the highest ‘summer’ outdoor qualification in the UK, and the Winter Mountain Leader qualification. I also have qualifications in Mountain Biking, Canoeing & is a Pilates instructor.

I am passionate about my work and find that I can easily build rapport with people. I decided to set up Rock n Ridge in 2017 for my love and passion of the outdoors, as well as the fun and enjoyment of sharing that love with others.

Had a great day out with my instructor Paul who was very helpful in introducing me to trad climbing and getting me to be very comfortable on the rocks. We did six 1-pitch climbs and one multi-pitch climb while enjoying the phenomenal view of Langdale amongst many Herdwick sheeps. Would have extended the experience if I had more time and definitely would do it again.
