Description

Fluffy snowfall blankets the fir forests and steep mountain slopes of Kazakhstan.

The Shymbulak is a ski resort close to Almaty, and is the largest in Central Asia. Resting in the Medeu Valley in the Zaiilisky Alatau mountains, it’s the ideal spot for spectacular skiing.

Exploring the white wilderness of Central Asia brings you intimately close to nature, yet not everyone is aware of the potential dangers that this brings.

Avalanche safety is a fundamental quality when exploring the mountains, enabling you to assess any risks that may develop.

The main goal of this 4-day course is to teach you the fundamentals of avalanche safety. Know how to ski safely, to judge the dangers on any given mountain slope, and how to minimise the risks of triggering an avalanche.

Understand the basics of off-piste skiing, the rules for movement, and typical errors.

Get practical lessons on the proper use of avalanche equipment, and the skills of rescuing victims.

Master the principles of avalanche formation, and how to conduct analysis regarding snow cover, such as snowpack structure and its behaviour.

Mountain Leader

I grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan. At the age of 14I began to walk in the mountains. In 19 I came to the club of the mountaineering. I took a part of the national team of Kazakhstan. I participated in expeditions to the Himalayas, Karakorum, Tien Shan, Pamir. I started ski touring in 2012 and I haven’t stopped since then. The love of the mountains turned my hobby into my craft and I’m absolutely happy. The tourism in Kazakhstan develops very slow that’s why, you can see their primordial character and enjoy.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
