  • Hike across the jungle in the Huasteca Potosina and reach a real paradise

  • Jump, rappel and have a fantastic time at the Cañon de Micos

The Minas Viejas waterfall is one of the Mexico’s best guarded secrets. Located in the Huasteca Potosina, in the state of San Luis Potosi, this incredible place offers breathtaking sceneries and amazing options for canyoning and rappelling.

In the past years the Huasteca Potosina has become a famous place for adventurers to explore in Mexico. However, unlike other places in the Huasteca, like the Tamul or Cueva de Agua waterfalls, Minas Viejas remains a secluded and fairly quiet spot. Due to its location, the access is not as simple, as it requires to hike through the jungle. Therefore it is necessary to follow and expert and certified guide.

But once you reach it, you know you arrived into paradise. After walking through a trail with some steps at the end, it is easy to see the spectacular cascade that reaches over 50 meters of height. Then, you’ll start discovering the four natural pools filled with turquoise water. Each one has its own personality. And each one varies in depth, temperature and color.

On our adventure, we’ll descend rappelling on one of the sides of Minas Viejas, into a massive and vast pool. Thereupon, and after enjoying the best views of the area, we’ll get ready for the second part of our adventure: canyoning across Cañon de Micos. Here, we’ll swim, have fun and jump on 7 different cascades with a wide range of shapes and sizes.

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to explore Minas Viejas and Cañon de Micos. Let one of our certified guides show you this marvellous place in the Huasteca Potosina in Mexico.

What People are Saying about Mexico Adventure Guides-

Daniel and his partner Alex did a great job guiding us, and helping with all the logistics, especially transportation to and from the climb. Alex was a real pleasure to talk with, learn from, and show us the mountain. Thank you, for a great experience!

Daniel was kind enough to pick me up promptly at the airport when I arrived. we drove straight to amecameca and bought a few supplies, we then drove to Popo park and set up camp. Daniel gave a class on crampons, walking sticks and the ice pick and then it was time to sleep and prepare for the early morning hike start. we set off around 0330 and reached the recluso at about 15,500 feet. it was an amazing experience with wonderful views. Thank you Daniel, Alejandro and Yasmin!
