Description

The Northern Lights of Aurora Borealis are one of the most visually stunning sights on earth, and we will guide you through this photography workshop in Luosto, Finnish Lapland, where you will learn the best skills and techniques needed to capture the lights perfectly, whilst also teaching you about the history and mythology of the phenomenon, all taking place in the great snowy outdoors of Pyha-Luosto National Park.

Pyha-Luosto National Park is the oldest national park in Finland, and is located approximately 100km North of the capital city of Lapland, Rovaniemi, and close to the nearby town of Luosto. It is renowned as one of the best places in the country to witness Aurora Borealis.

Our workshop begins by meeting at our offices in Luosto, and from there we then head to nearby Tikkalaavu in the national park.

Before we start taking photos we will run through an important presentation about Aurora Borealis, detailing its importance in local folklore as well as the latest scientific reasoning’s behind them.

Afterwards we then run through the best camera settings, techniques and procedures used by professionals to capture the Northern Lights, and we will constantly be on hand to give you helpful tips and pointers while you are practicing.

Throughout the workshop there will be ample time to take photos and practice your skills on the gorgeous snow-filled natural scenery of the national park around us, and hopefully this will give you the confidence to try and capture the perfect shot of Aurora Borealis, which will be blazing brightly in the sky above us.

After a few hours of photography we finish up with a warm drink and an opportunity to compare photos, with everyone hopefully having taken some lovely snaps of this sensational sight.

Great wilderness experience with Hannele and Claudia at Bliss Adventure in mid-January. Beautiful winter wilderness landscape and overnight stay in rustic but very comfortable log cabin. Remote and undisturbed but at the same time not too strenuous and appropriate for beginner/intermediate level skiers. Excellent organization and guiding. Highly recommended.
