Description

Chile comprises about 2,000 active and inactive volcanoes, laying within the Andes Mountain Range. Most of them are located in the country’s central-south regions of Araucania (31,858 km²) and Los Lagos (48,585 km2). These offer a great variety of landscapes of abundant wild nature, which we will visit!

Our trip’s meeting point will be the city of Temuco, sited 700 kilometers south of the capital city of Santiago. Temuco is considered to be the center of the Mapuches’ culture, the native groups that lived in south-central Chile and southwest Argentina at the time of the Spanish arrival.

During our 12-day splitboarding journey, we will traverse across some of Chile’s national parks and reserves in the Andes, climbing some of the world’s most famous volcanoes. Some of these are: Llaima (3,125m), Lonquimay (2,865m), Villarrica (2,847m), Osorno (2,652m), Mocho (2,422 m), Chosuenco (2,415m), and Casablanca (2,240m). Most of them are stratovolcanoes, which are high cone-shaped peaks made up by several layers of lava and other volcanic materials. Along the way, we will also explore dense virgin forests, massive glaciers, emerald green lakes, and hot springs!

Accommodation will be in hotels in the cities and high-altitude comfortable mountain huts.

While our tour does not involve any difficult, technical ascent, participants are required to be in good shape and have some previous splitboarding experience, including some basic climbing skills with crampons, ice axe and rope. For your reference, below you will find the trip’s detailed itinerary. However, please note that I will tailor it, selecting the skiing areas based on guests’ skill level and background.
