Description

Do you like ski mountaineering? Then I've found the right place for you. Cajon de Maipo lies in a deep and remote valley of the Central Andes in Chile. If you have ever been to Canada, Cajon del Maipo will make you remember some areas in Northern British Columbia since it is away from the hustle of the ski resorts of the south.

During this full day program we must first ascend the mountain. The way up there is through a wild and rugged terrain. There are also many massive peaks around. Many of them are over 5000 meters in height!

This is definitely one of the less visited and more remote settings in Chile and all South America. However if you get the chance to spend some time in the mountains here, I am sure that you’ll remember this ski tour for a lifetime.

This day of ski touring is aimed at people with prior experience. It will be also important that you know how to use off-piste equipment, such as arva, shovel and probe. If I am not available at the time of your arrival, my brother Cristobal will take my place.

IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide from Chile

I was born in 1990, and I always been surrounded by mountains, with family and friends in the Andes.

I did the first Chilean ascent to Cerro Torre via Ferrari route, four ascents to Mt, Fitz Roy, more than 12 to Torres del Paine and the first alpine traverse of the three towers.

I also climbed in the Himalayas, Yosemite, and other Andean countries such as Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.

I did the IFMGA/UIAGM aspirant course in 2017 in Bolivia, and completed the AIARE level 2 avalanche training.
