Description

I will guide you on this truly awesome day hike in the Serra dos Orgaos National Park, from Teresopolis, as we hike through and marvel at the raw natural beauty and epic scenery that dominates the park, from the endless tracts of tropical rainforest, to the mesmerizing waterfalls and pools such as the “Poco Verde” river pool, and the magnificent and majestic mountain peaks that dot the landscape.

The Serra dos Orgaos National Park is located just a 2-hour drive from the city of Rio de Janeiro, and was formed as Brazil’s 3rd ever national park, in 1939. Part of the park lies within the city limits of Teresopolis, meaning access to the park is relatively easy.

We begin by meeting in the city of Teresopolis, and from there we will head straight to the park. We will then follow the “Cartao Postal Trail” round trip, one of the more scenic and lovely trails to follow.

After a few hours of hiking through the gorgeous rainforest, we reach the “Cartao Postal” viewpoint, which provide sweeping panoramic views out over the stunning mountain peaks, including the famous “Gods Finger”.

After the viewpoint we then hike down to the relaxing and refreshing Soberbo River, where we can swim in and amongst the marvelous and idyllic natural pools and waterfalls, hard-earned after our hiking exertions!

After the swim it is then a hike back to the starting point, where our tour ends, happy and relaxed at having explored and witnessed this slice of Brazilian paradise.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
