Day hike to the summit of Mount Barney’s “North Peak”, Mount Barney National Park

Join me on this fun and adventurous day hike to the summit of Mount Barney’s “North Peak” in Mount Barney National Park, Queensland, Australia, and you will be exposed to some of the most tranquil and idyllic countryside this great country has to offer, with acres of thick green eucalyptus forest and shrubbery providing an epic backdrop to the climb up this special mountain.

Mount Barney is located in Southeast Queensland, Australia, and is approximately 130km away from the capital city of Brisbane. It is an immensely popular location for outdoor activities such as hiking and bushwalking, and is home to native animals such as platypus, wallabies and fig parrots.

Our trip begins in the morning when we assemble at Mount Barney lodge, and then head onwards to our trail.

The trail we will take is significantly gentler and more peaceful than the “Logan’s Ridge” trail, with a fairly straightforward path to the summit.

Along the way we will have opportunities to stop at several rocky creeks and waterways, where we can fill up on the fresh water, and also to admire the abundance of native and exotic flora and fauna that surrounds us.

We reach the summit via a variety of steep knolls and rocky sections, and once at the summit there will be ample time to take in and admire the absolutely stunning landscape, scenery and terrain beneath us, with the gum trees lining the fields and valleys and the birdsong of the native birds providing the soundtrack.

After our time at the summit we then begin our descent, with the trip finishing back at the starting point. Hopefully this day hike will have made you fall even more in love with this part of Australia and whetted your appetite for more hiking.
