Climb Mount Barney via “Logan’s Ridge”, 1-day ascent in the Mount Barney National Park

Join me on this fun and beautiful 1-day climb and you will experience and be exposed to some of the most magnificent and quintessentially Australian countryside imaginable, as we climb Mount Barney via “Logan’s Ridge” in the Mount Barney National Park, an area renowned for its abundance of traditional vegetation and wildlife, as well as epic and awesome views out over the vast plains and valleys.

Mount Barney is located in Southeast Queensland, Australia, and is approximately 130km away from the capital city of Brisbane. It is an immensely popular location for outdoor activities such as hiking and bushwalking, and is home to native animals such as platypus, wallabies and fig parrots.

Our day begins in the morning at the Mount Barney lodge, and from here we begin the traditional and original route to take to the summit, which is also the most direct.

After navigating the initial “fire trail”, we then reach the mighty Logan’s Ridge, a rocky and steep ridge that provides the pathway to the summit. This part of the climb is the trickiest, with loose rocks a common feature, but once we successfully complete this part it is then a clear path to the summit.

Once at the summit we can look back out over the amazing Queensland countryside, with acres of gum trees, farmlands, valleys and lakes dotting the landscape, with the only sound being the birdsong of the exotic and native birds.

After spending time admiring these views, we then begin our descent back to the starting point, where our adventure finishes, leaving us happy and content at having climbed and experience this slice of Australian bush tranquility.
