Description

Join me as I guide you on this sensational day hike to the top of Morne Diablotins (1447m), the highest peak in Dominica and an area that contains some of the most idyllic, tranquil and exquisite scenery in the country, as we hike our way through muddy trails, slippery roots and branches and countless waterways to reach the top, where the breath-taking views make our exertions all worthwhile.

Morne Diablotins is a volcanic mountain nestled within the Morne Diablotin National Park in Dominica, and is the highest mountain in the country and the second highest in the Lesser Antilles. It is only 15 miles North of the countries capital city, Roseau, and its last volcanic activity occurred 30,000 years ago.

Our trip begins when we meet in Roseau, and from there it is a short drive up to the start of the hiking trail.

Throughout the hike we will come across several of the islands native bird species such as parrots and hummingbirds, each with their own unique and distinct characteristics.

The initial lush, dense rainforest turns in to more open and spacious woodland the further up we go, and there are several sections that involve crawling over roots and under and through branches and trees.

After some steep and sometimes muddy hiking, we finally reach the summit, giving us uninterrupted sweeping panoramic views back over the island, with its vast green valleys and mountains stretching out to the magnificent ocean.

After ample time admiring the sumptuous views, we then head back down to the starting point, where our journey ends, hopefully having made you fall even more in love with this slice of paradise.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
