This one-day ski tour to Eypiol that I’m proposing you here, is dedicated for beginners who wish to live a wild winter outdoor experience in the Queyras Valley.
Eypiol is a mountainous dom of 2550 meters high. It is accessible for less experienced / fit skiers because there is only 800 meters of positive gain to reach the summit.
I like very much guiding to Eypiol because…
- It is located in a remote area of the Queyras Valley with magnificent and authentic views;
- The snow is very well preserved due to the fact that 80% of the itinerary takes place in the forest. We very often go there when the weather in the region is bad because the visibility is always fine;
- The risk of avalanche is always lower than in other parts of the valley.
Coming here for one day is very suitable for skiers spending one week in one of the resorts of the region such as Ceillac, Abriès, Saint-Véran, Arvieux, Vars, Risoul, Aiguilles… It gives you the possibility to experience in a very short period, off the beaten tracks skiing, real silence and nature!
Skiing to Eypiol is one of the many different possibilities there are for having a great ski touring day in the Hautes-Alpes. I’m organizing many other programs from one to several days, for beginners as well as for fit and experienced backcountry skiers. If you are fancy a more challenging day, I recommend you skiing to Mait d’Amunt, one of my favorite ski tours in Queyras.
Feel free to contact me if you are interested about this winter adventure, or any other. It will be a great pleasure for me to let you discover this part of the Queyras Valley and allow you to live an unique skiing experience.

Guillestre can be a good meeting spot. We can also meet in Roux d'Abriès, the starting point of our itinerary.
Based on the number of participants, I can provide you with part of the safety equipment. If you need to rent anything, I recommend you to stop in one of the rental shops of Guillestre. I can of course help you with that.
