Description

The unique, remote and spectacular landscape of Southern Greenland makes it the perfect place for an unforgettable 10-day glacier trekking expedition!

Our adventure begins after we meet up at Narsarsuaq Airport. From here, we will go over our itinerary and check out all of our gear before driving to the start of the trek.

We will proceed to hike through the Flower Valley until we reach the foot of the mighty Kiattuut Sermia Glacier. The next several days will be spent traversing the glacier, which is challenging but a whole lot of fun.

If you have no previous glacier trekking experience, we can spend some time at the start of the trip going over necessary glacier traveling skills before putting them to the test.

Overall, we will spend two days crossing the glacier before arriving at the Nunatak Mountains.

We will then spend the next three days exploring and climbing various peaks in the mountain range. Exactly what we do and where we head will be dictated by the weather as well as how the group feels post-glacier trekking.

After we've explored the mountains for a few days, sadly, our trip begins to come to its end. We will spend the last two days hiking back toward Narsarsuaq over the stunning Johan Dahl Land highlands.

As we hike over the undulating hills, we will get the chance to see some of Greenland's native wildlife, including foxes, hares and various species of birds.

We will spend the whole trip hiking with our backpacks and sleeping in tents.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this scenic, fun and unique 10-day glacier trekking expedition to Southern Greenland!

Nature Guide

Arctic Nature Guide

My name is Kristian Salomonsen, and I am originally from Denmark.
As a child, I lived 2 years in Greenland, where I developed a strong passion for the outdoors. After finishing high school in Denmark, I moved to Norway to study arctic outdoor life (friluftsliv) at “Øytun Folkehøgskole” for one year. Then, I moved to Svalbard for a one-year “Arctic Nature Guide” study program which certifies guides to be able to lead tent based multi-day hiking trips in arctic climates. When I finished, I started working as a glacier guide and instructor during the summer season, leading many glacier hiking trips in southern Norway. From 2014 onward, I spent my summers working as an alpine climbing guide/instructor at Nordnorsk Klatreskole (Lofoten Mountain Guides), in Lofoten, northern Norway.

Greenland is like a second home to me, and I am looking very much forward to share many nature experiences with you in this awe-inspiring location!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
