Join Kateryna, an IFMGA/KMGA aspirant guide and experienced mountaineering instructor, for a hands-on mountaineering course in Tuyuk-Su Gorge, one of Kazakhstan’s most accessible alpine climbing areas. Located near Almaty, this dramatic mountain valley offers granite ridges, classic summits, and a practical high-altitude environment for learning how to move safely in alpine terrain.
This 6-day program is designed for climbers and strong hikers who want to develop their mountaineering skills under the supervision of a qualified guide. Throughout the course, you will practice essential techniques such as rock climbing movement, rope work, route preparation, equipment checks, and alpine decision-making, while also applying those skills on real mountain objectives.
Based at the Tuyuk-Su alpine camp, the program combines structured learning with guided ascents of peaks such as Amangeldy Peak, Khrishchatogo Peak, and Oktyabryonok Peak, depending on conditions and participant level. The itinerary can be adapted according to weather, route conditions, and the group’s experience.

Meeting point
Meet Kateryna in Almaty and transfer toward the Tuyuk-Su alpine camp. After reaching the hut, settle in, have lunch, and go for a short acclimatization hike. In the evening, Kateryna will review the plan, check equipment, and discuss the goals of the course.
After breakfast, start with climbing practice on nearby rocks. This day focuses on building confidence on rock terrain, reviewing basic movement skills, and introducing the technical systems needed for alpine climbing. Depending on the group, the afternoon may include more practice or a rest period.
Wake up early and apply the skills learned during the previous day on a guided ascent of Amangeldy Peak, one of the classic objectives in the area. The day will include route preparation, alpine pacing, and safe movement in mountain terrain. Return to camp for a debrief.
Spend the day on multipitch climbing near camp. This is a practical training day focused on climbing systems, belay transitions, communication, and efficient movement on longer routes. The program may be adapted depending on the group’s level and conditions.
Start early for a guided ascent of Khrishchatogo Peak, using the skills developed throughout the course. This is another opportunity to practice alpine decision-making, route management, and safe movement on more complex terrain.
On the final day, climb Oktyabryonok Peak, located close to camp, before packing up and returning to Almaty. The day’s plan can be shortened if needed, depending on the group’s schedule and conditions.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
