What should I know about Mountain Climbing Kazakhstan?
Located in the heart of Central Asia, most of Kazakhstan is pretty flat. However, the mighty Tian Shen mountain range runs through the very southwestern portion of the country and make for some incredible mountain climbing.
At 7.010 meters high and sitting on a shared border with both China and Kyrgyzstan, Khan Tengri is the country’s tallest peak. However, there are numerous others throughout the mountain range that make for excellent climbs.
Among these are Pik Talgar (4.979 meters), from which views out over the steppe and Almaty are unbeatable.
Charyn Canyon, which is the country’s most visited tourist destination, and Tuyuk-Su Gorge are also excellent spots to practice necessary mountain climbing skills and prepare for a full assault on one of the country’s highest peaks.
Why should I choose Kazakhstan for my Mountain Climbing adventure?
**Stunning scenery **
Kazakhstan boasts some of the most pristine alpine scenery in all of Asia. From the tops of the mighty Tian Shan, enjoy stunning views out over the steppe to the north and over the wooded slopes and snow-capped peaks to the south. Mountain climbing expeditions will take you through valleys, gorges and up over mountain slopes until you reach the summit. Enjoy varied views of these terrains as you go.
Get off the beaten path
Somehow Kazakhstan is not at the top of most mountaineers’ to-do lists. This is their loss. Head to this remote Central Asian country to climb some of the most beautiful peaks in all of Asia. Enjoy the summits all to yourself and forget about all the worries of the modern world. Make it up to 5.000 meters (or more, if you climb Khan Tengri (7.010 meters) on the Chinese and Kyrzyg border) and gaze out over the country’s unspoiled nature.
While you are out in the Kazakh wilds, take your chances with spotting some of the country’s diverse and wondrous wildlife. The mountains of Kazakhstan are home to timberwolves, moose, foxes and lynx. If you have the time, visit some of the country’s various nature reserves to see some of these marvelous creatures for yourself. Heading to the slopes of Khan Tengri even gives you the chance to spot a snow leopard!
