Description

Would you like to try rock climbing the Balaitous mountain in the Pyrenees? Then join me for a thrilling 2-day adventure to this stunning peak located between the Spanish Tena Valley and the French Val d’Azun!

At 3,144 m, the Bailatous is a stunning granitic peak in the Pyrenees located on the border between Spain and France. On this adventure, we will have the chance to climb this emblematic mountain from the Spanish side. We will set off from La Sarra to the Respomuso reservoir in the Tena Valley, where our overnight mountain hut is located. We will enjoy dinner there and then, on the next day, start our climbing.

Early in the morning, we will leave the shelter and ascend a ravine then go through scattered rock formations. A few hours later, we will put on our helmets and harnesses to start the final section of our ascent using short rope technique. After around an hour, we will enjoy the stunning views from the top.

For this adventure, you will need to have a good fitness level. You will also need prior rock climbing experience. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you every step of the way.

Alfredo was an excellent guide - very helpful and flexible in organising our ascent of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, set pace and technical level perfectly for our group (father and two teenage children) on the way up, and very good company on the way down :-)
